This invention discloses a stable, surfactant-free, aqueous hypochlorite paste readily dispersible in hot or cold water, thickened with non-reactive inorganics without having alkali metal silicates, providing up to 10% available chlorine and with a viscosity ranging from about 25,000 to about 2,000,000 CPS.

An alkaline composition and method of cleaning aluminum surfaces is disclosed which avoids discoloring or tarnishing of the metal surface. The composition comprises a mixture of alkali metal metasilicate and a compound chosen from the group consisting of sodium carbonate, potassium carbonate, lithium carbonate, potassium orthophosphate and sodium orthophosphate and mixtures thereof, wherein the metasilicate salt is present in an effective amount up to about 3% by weight of the composition and wherein the pH ranges above about 12.0.

This invention discloses a liquid scouring composition comprising in percent by weight of the composition (a) about 0.5% to about 5% anionic surfactant; (b) about 0.5% to about 5% amphoteric surfactant; (c) about 5% to about 65% abrasive; (d) about 0.1% to about 8% electrolyte; (e) 0% to about 5% other ingredients; and (f) water to make 100%.
