An oxidation catalyst is described for treating an exhaust gas produced by a diesel engine comprising a catalytic region and a substrate, wherein the catalytic region comprises a catalytic material comprising: bismuth (Bi), antimony (Sb) or an oxide thereof; a platinum group metal (PGM) selected from the group consisting of (i) platinum (Pt), (ii) palladium (Pd) and (iii) platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd); and a support material, which is a refractory oxide; wherein the platinum group metal (PGM) is supported on the support material; and wherein the bismuth (Bi), antimony (Sb) or an oxide thereof is supported on the support material and/or the refractory oxide comprises the bismuth, antimony or an oxide thereof.

A catalyst washcoat is provided having a molecular sieve with a CHA crystal structure; about 0.5 to about 5.0 mol % phosphorus; and SiOand AlOin a mole ratio of about 5 to about 40. The washcoat includes one or more promoters or stabilizers, and may be applied to a monolith substrate to produce a catalytically active article.

Low phosphorus chabazites

Catalysts and articles useful for selective catalytic reduction (SCR) are disclosed. The catalyst comprises a cerium oxide and an octahedral molecular sieve (OMS) comprising manganese oxide. The catalysts, which comprise 0.1 to 50 wt. % of cerium, can be made by doping, ion-exchange, deposition, or other techniques. Also disclosed is an SCR process in which a gaseous mixture comprising nitrogen oxides is selectively reduced in the presence of a reductant and the cerium-modified OMS catalyst. The cerium-modified manganese oxide OMS catalysts offer unexpected advantages for selective catalytic reduction, especially NH-SCR, including improved thermal stability and improved activity for NOx conversion, especially at relatively low temperatures (100&#xb0; C. to 250&#xb0; C.).

Cerium-modified manganese octahedral molecular sieves as catalysts for selective catalytic reduction

A platinum alloy catalyst PtXY, wherein X is nickel, cobalt, chromium, copper, titanium or manganese and Y is tantalum or niobium, characterised in that in the alloy the atomic percentage of platinum is 46-75 at %, of X is 1-49 at % and of Y is 1-35 at %; provided that the alloy is not 66 at % Pt20 at % Cr14 at % Ta or 50 at % Pt, 25 at % Co, 25 at % Ta is disclosed. The catalyst has particular use as an oxygen reduction catalyst in fuel cells, and in particular in phosphoric acid fuel cells.

Ternary platinum alloy catalyst

Niobia- and tantala-doped ceria catalysts, their use in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) processes, and a compact after-treatment system for exhaust gases are disclosed. In some aspects, the catalyst comprises at least 91 wt. % of ceria and 0.1 to 9 wt. % of niobia or tantala doped on the ceria. While conventional SCR catalysts can deactivate at higher temperatures, the doped cerias, particularly ones having as little as 1 or 2 wt. % of NbOor TaO, are activated toward NOx conversion by calcination. The doped cerias are also valuable for SCRF&#xae; catalyzed filter applications, including an after-treatment system that comprises a diesel particulate filter having inlets and outlets, and a dual-function catalyst coated on the inlets, outlets, or both. Compared with conventional SCR catalysts, the niobia or tantala-doped cerias enable a higher level of NOto be present.

Selective catalytic reduction processes using doped cerias

A platinum alloy catalyst PtXY, wherein X is a transition metal (other than platinum, palladium or iridium) and Y is a transition metal (other than platinum, palladium or iridium) which is less leachable than X in an acidic environment, has an atomic percentage in the alloy of platinum is from 20.5-40at %, of X is from 40.5-78.5at % X and of Y is from 1-19.5at %.

Catalyst

A catalyst composition is provided having a CHA crystal structure; about 0.5 to about 5.0 mol % phosphorus; and SiOand AlOin a mole ratio of about 5 to about 40. The catalyst composition is capable of NOx conversion at elevated temperatures. A catalytically active washcoat includes such catalyst compositions and one or more promoters or stabilizers, and may be applied to a monolith substrate to produce a catalytically active article. Methods of reducing NOx employing the catalyst compositions are also provided.

A sol includes metal oxide nanoparticles and stabilizer ions dispersed in an aqueous liquid. The nanoparticles include a metal selected from the group of platinum, palladium, rhodium, iridium, ruthenium and osmium and the molar ratio of metal: stabilizer ions is at least 0.7. A method of preparing supported catalyst materials includes contacting the sols with support materials.
