A power controller allocates input power to a datacenter between computing power for computing services, backup power, and overhead power for overhead systems. The power controller reallocates the overhead power and/or the backup power to the computing power. This may increase the overall utilization of the datacenter by allowing additional processing power of the servers to be used.

Cooling a first device and second device in a fashion to produce water. The method includes collecting environmental air from an environment. The environmental air is used to cool a first device. Cooling the first device generates first device exhaust air produced from the environmental air. The first device exhaust air is provided to a first device portion of a heat exchanger. At a second device portion of the heat exchanger, thermally coupled to the first device portion of the heat exchanger, second device exhaust air generated by cooling a second device is received. At the heat exchanger, the first device exhaust air is used to cool the second device exhaust air to a dew point, causing condensed water to be created from the second device exhaust air. The condensed water is collected.

A first power train that includes a first plurality of components, and a second power train includes a second plurality of components. The first power train is configured to provide power to a first plurality of server racks of a first data center at a first level of high-availability service associated with a first uptime. The first plurality of components includes a first subset of the first plurality of components and a second subset of the first plurality of components. The second power train is configured to provide power to a second plurality of server racks of the first data center at a second level of high-availability service that is associated with a second uptime that is less than the first uptime. Various methods and systems for implementing resource management for an infrastructure are provided. Resource management includes datacenter byproduct management interfaces, datacenter power management, datacenter operations optimization and infrastructure resource management. Resource management facilitates using and distributing physical resources, including incidental physical resources that are generated during operation of an infrastructure, based on a threshold reserve of the physical resource associated with the operating the infrastructure. Resource management can include controlling an amount of the physical resource that is generated and an amount the physical resource that is reserved. The threshold reserve in combination with the control over generating and reserving the physical resource help identify an allocable amount of the physical resource. Physical resources of an infrastructure are quantified to support resource management. Quantifying physical resources is associated with devices of the infrastructure and requests for physical resources in the infrastructure to perform different types of operations.

A bus architecture for supplying power to a datacenter. A first DC bus includes a first DC bus conductor, a first power source and a first diode having a cathode connected to the first DC bus conductor. The first DC bus includes a first converter connected to the first power source and to an anode of the first diode. Power output by the first power source via the first converter is supplied at a first voltage level. The first DC bus includes a first plurality of loads and a first plurality of DC/DC converters connecting the first plurality of loads to the first DC bus conductor, respectively. The first DC bus includes a second diode having a cathode connected to the first DC bus conductors. A first uninterruptable power supply is connected to an anode of the second diode and operates at a second voltage level.

A system includes a support member and a hard disk drive interface connector, where a first side of the hard disk drive interface connector is disposed on a first side of the support member and a second side of the hard disk drive interface connector disposed on a second side of the support member. A conduit is coupled to the support member and to a fluid inlet disposed on the first side of the support member. A fluid outlet is disposed on the first side of the support member, and a housing is coupled to the first side of the support member and defines a volume with the support member, where an interface between the housing and the first side of the support member is leak-resistant, and where the fluid inlet and fluid outlet are in fluid communication with the volume.

In an example, a cooling device is provided. The cooling device includes a connection block including a surface, an inlet passage, and an outlet passage. The cooling device includes a first membrane defining a first volume with a first opening at a first end thereof. The first membrane sealingly engages with the surface around the inlet passage. The cooling device includes a second membrane defining a second volume with a second opening at a second end thereof. The second membrane also defines a plurality of apertures and sealingly engages with the surface inside of the first membrane and around the outlet passage. The cooling device also includes a substrate arranged in the second membrane, is connected to the surface, and includes a heat-generating device. Coolant fluid flows into the first volume via the inlet passage, through the plurality of apertures into the second volume, and exits via the outlet passage.

The description relates to personal content distribution networks. One example can identify devices that are associated with a set of users and that are proximate to a location and obtain operational information about the devices. The example can establish a PCDN for the devices at the location. The PCDN can be configured to obscure identification of the devices to entities outside the PCDN and to aggregate content that may be requested by individual users among multiple individual devices.

In one example, a data center may be built in modular components that may be pre-manufactured and separately deployable. Each modular component may provide functionality such as server capacity, cooling capacity, fire protection, resistance to electrical failure. Some components may be added to the data center by connecting them to the center's utility spine, and others may be added by connecting them to other components. The spine itself may be a modular component, so that spine capacity can be expanded or contracted by adding or removing spine modules. The various components may implement functions that are part of standards for various levels of reliability for data centers. Thus, the reliability level that a data center meets may be increased or decreased to fit the circumstances by adding or removing components.

Modularization of data center functions

Discrete-component-level physical security is provided by the physical securing of defined hardware computing components through computer-controlled processes. Physical locking mechanisms are provided for individual components of a datacenter server chassis and are communicationally coupled to a computing device, which controls the state of the physical locking mechanisms, including in response to user identification and authentication information provided through a user input device that is also part of the server chassis. An access control list controlling physical access correlates user identities to the state of the physical locking mechanisms and other physical security devices and provides for one-time passwords and other like mechanisms. The state of physical security devices are also based on security requirements associated with processing being performed on one or more computing devices protected by such physical security devices. The server chassis can also comprise a backup power source for the physical locking mechanisms.
