An assembly and a method for supporting generator stator end winding coils are presented. The assembly includes an outer support circumferentially disposed on outer side of bottom end winding coils and inner braces disposed on inner side of top end winding coils and circumferentially spaced apart from each other. At least one inner brace is disposed along an axial direction of the top end winding coils. Studs are radially oriented and threaded into the inner braces from the outer support. The studs are tensioned and retightenable to a required clamping force for supporting the end winding coils. Filler layers are disposed between the top end wind coils and bottom end wind coils for supporting the clamping force.

Assembly and method for supporting generator stator end winding coils

A method for lubricating a generator bearing assembly is presented. The generator bearing assembly has a bearing and a bearing seat that supports the bearing. A coating of a lubricating material is applied at an interfacing surface between the bearing and the bearing seat. A curing process is performed to the coating by heating the coating up to a predefined curing temperature.

A method of servicing a stator frame of a power generator. The method includes removing a first stator core from a main housing of the stator frame, removing a plurality of first dove-tail shaped keybars that extend axially within and are coupled to a main support structure forming part of the main housing, and installing a plurality of second keybars in the main support structure in place of the first dove-tail shaped keybars. The second keybars are adapted to support a second stator core. Each of the second keybars has a generally rounded engagement surface and the second stator core includes recesses with shapes corresponding to the generally rounded engagement surfaces of the second keybars such that the second stator core can be securely supported in the main support structure by the second keybars.

The present invention comprises a process for assembling a stator core assembly to replace existing stator cores in electric power generators. First and second stator core modules are positioned adjacent to one another such that one end of a fastener assembly in the second stator core module is nested in a counter-bore of the first stator core module and one end of a fastener assembly in the first stator core is nested in a counter-bore of the second stator core module.

Process for assembling a stator core assembly

An intercoupled stator core is separated from a non-vertically oriented (including horizontal) generator frame by decoupling the stator core and frame coupling members and interposing a slidable member between them. Thereafter they are separated relative to each other on the sliding member. The sliding or slidable member may comprise a rail, or alternatively a roller adapted for rolling contact with one of the opposed stator core or generator structures and an engagement surface in contact with the other structure. A system for separating the stator core from a non-vertically oriented generator frame includes first and second raising end plates adapted coupled to axial ends of the stator core. The end plates project outwardly from the generator frame ends, for coupling to a raise mechanism. After the raise mechanism raises the stator core the slidable member is interposed between the stator core and generator frame.

Removing a generator core () from a frame () includes removing electrical and mechanical connections between the core and components external to the frame; installing a lift support assembly () outboard of the core at each of an exciter end and a turbine end of the frame; installing a pilot shaft support assembly () between an inner surface of a core bore (D) and an outer surface (A) of a pilot shaft () at each of the exciter end and the turbine end of the frame; installing the pilot shaft through the first and second pilot shaft support assemblies and the core bore, the pilot shaft supported by the lift support assembly at the exciter end and the turbine end; decoupling the core and the frame; and activating a force-producing device () to slide the core out of the frame.

Method and apparatus for removal and replacement of a wound stator core

A generator is provided comprising: a frame; a stator core comprising laminations; and clamping structure to axially clamp the laminations together. The clamping structure may comprise: a plurality of first finger plates engaging a first end of the stator core; a first spacer plate associated with the first finger plates and including a plurality of spaced apart first recesses; a plurality of first engagement structures, each comprising a bolt and a corresponding slidable bushing; a first spring ring in engagement with the first engagement structures; and first load-applying structure coupled to the frame to imparts a load to the first spring ring.

Clamping structure for a stator core

A stator core () including tabbed laminations () stacked face-to-face to form a plurality of tabbed lamination modules (), with each tabbed lamination including a first tab () and a second tab () extending from a circumferential edge of the lamination. Non-tabbed laminations are also stacked face-to-face to form a plurality of non-tabbed lamination modules (), each non-tabbed lamination lacking a tab. The tabbed lamination modules are stacked face-to-face in an alternating configuration with non-tabbed lamination modules. Turbine generator stator core attachment technique

A method for servicing a stator frame of a power generator includes removing a first stator core from a main housing of the frame. A support assembly including a plurality of rails and a trolley is used to insert second laminations of a second stator core into the main housing. The rails extend axially within a bottom portion of the main housing and provide support for the trolley and for the second laminations as they are being inserted into the main housing. The trolley is provided for axial movement on the rails for inserting the second laminations into the main housing.

Method of servicing a stator frame that uses spring assemblies to support a stator core

A support assembly for servicing a stator frame of a power generator includes a plurality of rails and a trolley. The rails are supported on frame rings of a main housing of the stator frame. The rails have upper surfaces that provide temporary support for lower support surfaces of second laminations of a second stator core once the second laminations are inserted into desired axial positions within the main housing. The trolley is provided for axial movement on the upper surfaces of the rails for inserting the second laminations into the main housing. The trolley includes a lamination-engaging portion including a lamination support surface for supporting upper support surfaces of the second laminations and a plurality of rail wheels provided for axial movement of the trolley within the main housing on the upper surfaces of the rails.

The present invention comprises a stator core module, stator core assembly and process for assembling a stator core assembly to replace existing stator cores in electric power generators.
