An industrial controller simulation system is provided. The system includes a simulation component that enables modeling of an industrial controller system. A suggestion component offers automated recommendations in accordance with the modeling of the industrial controller system.

Automated recommendations from simulation

A tool for simulating an industrial control system is provided. The tool includes a simulation component to emulate one or more simulation models according to a simulated execution environment. A switch component is associated with the simulation component to selectively enable or disable variability in the simulation models.

Simulation controls for model variablity and randomness

System(s) and method(s) facilitate a distributed simulation of an industrial control system. A model of the industrial control system is generated and computing resources are scheduled for simulating portions of a simulation according to the model. Computing resources are scheduled to mitigate computational bottlenecks in the simulation and synchronize portions of the simulation deployed in disparate computing resources. Sub-processes of a control process can be simulated in dedicated computing resources as a part of a distributed simulation of the control process. Execution time of one or more portions of a distributed simulation can be increased or slowed down to synchronize said portions.

Distributed simulation and synchronization

A simulation model can individually and selectively simulate sub-processes of a full-scale production system. Such a customized simulator can directly simulate all the processes of a system, any combination of processes of a system, or a single process of a system. The remaining processes of the system are left to be executed by an operator or equivalent software program. A simulation system includes a receiver component that receives multiple replications of a simulation scenario. The simulation scenario includes a plurality of interacting components representing devices and elements of the real-world system or abstract process to be simulated. Each of the interacting components has one or more numerical parameters associated therewith, to represent an operational parameter of the system device. During the execution of the replications, each replication operates with a randomness factor that modifies a respective numerical parameter, in accordance with the sorts of variations that can be expected in the actual system. An assignment component is included that assigns a subset of the replications to multiple processors such that a processor within the multiple processors executes at least one replication.

A system that facilitates determination of a sampling rate to utilize in connection with sampling data in an industrial environment comprises a receiver component that receives data from an I/O port of a controller. An analysis component automatically and dynamically determines a rate at which data associated with the I/O port is to be sampled based at least in part upon the received data. The system can further comprise a sampling component that samples data at the rate determined by the analysis component.

A system that tracks a lot of items being manufactured comprises a receiver component that receives control logics for manufacturing the lot, the control logics include information relating to number of items within the lot and number of items within sublots. A partitioning component automatically creates a plurality of virtual sublots that represent sublots being manufactured. A tracking component automatically tracks each of the sublots across multiple processes during manufacture of the items and associates tracking data with corresponding virtual sublots.

An industrial controller that can be utilized in an environment that supports message queuing comprises a receiver component that receives a message from a queue, wherein the message conforms to a message queuing protocol. A message queuing component communicatively coupled to the receiver component interprets the message and alters control logics within the controller based at least in part upon contents of the message. Furthermore, for example, the message queuing engine can be configured to generated messages that conform to the message queuing protocol.
