A signal repeating element for repeating a signal includes a housing, at least one transmit antenna element positioned on one side of the housing and at least one receive antenna element positioned on the same one side of the housing. Receiver and transmitter circuitry is coupled with respective ones of the receive and transmit antenna elements. Phase circuitry for affecting the phase of signals from the at least one receive antenna element and at least one transmit antenna element is coupled between the respective receive or transmit antenna element and the receiver or transmitter circuitry.

Repeaters for wireless communication systems

A repeater and associated method of use includes at least one antenna element for communicating in one direction and at least one antenna element for communicating in another direction. A radio frequency uplink path and a radio frequency downlink path are coupled between the antennas. At least one of the radio frequency uplink path or the radio frequency downlink path includes an adaptive cancellation circuit. The adaptive cancellation circuit is configured to generate a cancellation signal without requiring an injected signal. The cancellation signal, when added to a radio frequency signal in the respective uplink and downlink paths, substantially reduces feedback signals present in the radio frequency signal.

A flat-panel repeater includes a housing having a pair of oppositely facing surfaces, at least one antenna element mounted to each of the surfaces for radiating energy in a direction opposite to that of an antenna element mounted to the other of the surfaces, and an electronic circuit mounted within the housing and operatively coupling signals between at least one antenna element on each of the oppositely facing surfaces of the module. Isolation between the antennas on opposite sides of the repeater is improved by various techniques, such as use of adaptive cancellation which removes a significant portion of the feedback signal power, therefore increasing the total system isolation by the same amount. This additional isolation can be used to achieve greater system gain, and therefore significantly extend the range of the system. The repeater may also include a beamforming arrangement for creating a desired antenna pattern of one antenna relative to a base station and a desired antenna pattern of the other antenna relative to subscriber equipment.

The present invention provides a method of retransmitting a GPS signal inside a structure. The method includes receiving the GPS signal, amplifying the GPS signal to produce a second GPS signal, and retransmitting the second GPS signal inside the structure either directly or indirectly through an intermediate link in one of the unlicensed bands. The present invention may also be used for the retransmission of digital radio signals inside a structure.

Method and apparatus for retransmitting received satellite signals inside a structure

The filter includes a housing (13) defining a cavity (14). The housing has a fluid inlet orifice (22) and a fluid ou let orifice (24) therein. At least one resonator (16), which is sized to receive and pass a radio frequency signal, is disposed in the cavity. A dielectric fluid (18) fills the cavity. The fluid inlet orifice is configured to supply a first quantity of the dielectric fluid to the cavity and the fluid outlet orifice is configured to remove a second quantity of the dielectric fluid from the cavity, so that the dielectric fluid is continuously replaced.

A remote power measuring device (1) is used to measure the power output of the transmission system (20). The measured power is then transmitted to a controller (5) and used by the controller (5), along with preset calibration data (41) for each power amplifier (3), to determine power output adjustment factors (22). The adjustment factors (22) are then communicated to the appropriate power amplifier (3) to adjust its output.

Transmission system

An intermediate scrambling device for a radiotelephone system is disclosed by which it is possible to establish and maintain scrambled communications between an originating scrambler terminal and the most distant companion scrambler on the circuit. The intermediate scrambler may establish and maintain the scrambled communications if it is the most distant scrambler, or it may become transparent to a more distant scrambler.
