An aerosol delivery device includes an electrical power source, an induction receiver configured to receive a substrate including an aerosol precursor composition such that the induction receiver is in proximity to the substrate, and a wireless power transmitter including an induction transmitter. The induction transmitter is configured to removably receive the induction receiver such that the induction transmitter surrounds the induction receiver. The induction transmitter receive electrical current from the electrical power source that causes the induction transmitter to generate an oscillating magnetic field, and the induction receiver generates heat via eddy currents induced at the induction receiver when exposed to the oscillating magnetic field and thereby heats the aerosol precursor composition to produce an aerosol. Related methods are also provided.

Aerosol delivery device including a wirelessly-heated atomizer and related method

The present disclosure relates to an aerosol delivery device configured to wirelessly heat an atomizer. The aerosol delivery device may include a control body and a cartridge. The control body may include an induction transmitter. The cartridge may include an induction receiver and an aerosol precursor composition. When electrical current is directed to the induction transmitter, the induction receiver may be inductively heated. The heat produced by the induction receiver may form an aerosol from the aerosol precursor composition at the substrate. Related methods are also provided.

A thermal measurement system includes a thermocouple configured to couple to a location of a heating element of an electronic smoking article. The thermocouple is structured to measure a surface temperature of the location. A thermocouple data module is operatively connected to the thermocouple and is structured to receive data of the surface temperature from the thermocouple. A pneumatic system is configured to connect to an end of the electronic smoking article and draw an air flow through the electronic smoking article. The pneumatic system includes a solenoid valve having an open state that causes air to flow through the electronic smoking article. The solenoid valve has a closed state that prevents air flow through the electronic smoking article. An infrared camera is disposed over the viewing window. The infrared camera is configured to measure a wire temperature of a heating element wire of the electronic smoking article.

Thermal profiling system and method

The present disclosure relates to a colorimetric aerosol detection device for detecting target compounds in an aerosol generated from an aerosol delivery device. The colorimetric aerosol detection device includes a tubular housing with a first open end (which can be configured to engage a mouthpiece of the aerosol delivery device) and a second open end (which may be configured as a mouthpiece) such that a stream of vapor can pass through the tubular housing in a direction from the first open end to the second open end. A colorimetric indicator material is located inside the tubular housing, and is configured to signal detection of a target compound in the vapor stream by a change in color visible to the user through a transparent or translucent portion of the tubular housing.
