A medical device includes an antimicrobial layer. A method of depositing an antimicrobial agent on or in the body of a medical device includes inserting a high temperature resistant tube having multiple holes through its surface into a vascular access device and coating, or delivering an antimicrobial agent to, and interior surface of the device.

A vascular access device may include a body and a layer of the body that communicates with a pathogenic environment to discourage adhesion of a pathogen to the layer and thus repress pathogenic activity. A method of repressing pathogenic activity in a vascular access device includes providing the device with a body, and coating the body with a layer that discourages adhesion of a pathogen to the layer.

A method of printing sheer fabric is described. In accordance with the method, a supply of the sheer fabric and a supply of a release substrate having a width less than the width of the sheer fabric are provided. A low tack adhesive is applied to an endless belt. The sheer fabric and the release substrate are combined such that the edges of the fabric overhang the edges of the release substrate and the overhanging edges of the sheer fabric and the release substrate are temporarily affixed to the endless belt with the low tack adhesive. The combined sheer fabric and release substrate are conveyed on the endless belt through one or more printing stations where at least one color ink is printed on the sheer fabric. The ink is dried and the sheer fabric is separated from the release substrate.

An indicator is disclosed for providing an indication that a food item has attained a predetermined temperature. The indicator comprises a barrel having a cavity wherein a plunger is disposed in a retracted position using a retaining material. The retaining material melts when a predetermined temperature is reached releasing the plunger towards an extended position. The retaining material comprises (1) a fatty ketone and (2) at least one other organic compound selected from the group consisting of fatty amides and fatty anilides.

An indicator is disclosed for providing an indication that a food item has attained a desired temperature. The indicator includes an organic retainer that maintains a plunger in a retracted position until the material from which the retainer is constructed yields. When the retainer yields, a spring urges the plunger toward an extended position to indicate that the food item has attained the desired temperature.

Pressure-activated adhesive that is a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile. The copolymer has a single glass transition temperature of no higher than about -25.degree. C., a nitrile content of no greater than about 31%, preferably of from about 18% by weight to about 30% by weight, a Mooney viscosity of at least 95 (measured according to ASTM D1646-87 at 100.degree. C. for 4 minutes), preferably from about 120 to about 150. The copolymer is not cross-linked, and the amount of vinyl groups in the copolymer should not exceed 10% by weight. Pressure-activated adhesives

An indicating device for indicating the time and temperature history of an object. The indicating device includes a reservoir containing an indicating material that liquefies at or above a predetermined temperature mounted on a base sheet, a removable barrier impervious to the indicating material interposed between the reservoir and a wick, wherein the wick is placed in contact with the reservoir after the barrier is removed to enable the migration of the indicating material along the wick at a controlled rate. The wick is constructed of generally hydrophobic materials so that the migration rate of the indicating materials along the wick is generally independent of changes in the ambient humidity.

Closure liner, i.e., innerseal, comprising a pressure-activated adhesive that is a copolymer of butadiene and acrylonitrile or methacrylonitrile.
