There is described a portable reactor system and computer program product. The system allows an operator to remotely monitor and control the chemical processes of a laboratory reactor on an interface device such as a tablet, remote computer or smart phone. At any time, live video of the reactor can be viewed. The temperature of the reactor, temperature of a bath surrounding the reactor, agitator speed of the blade or impeller in the reactor, conductivity of the reactor contents and pH of the reactor contents can be remotely controlled and monitored.

A method for the continuous aggregation of pre-toner particles including continuously flowing a slurry that includes at least one resin, and optionally includes other components used in forming aggregated pre-toner particles, or continuously flowing individual dispersions of the components of the slurry, into a reactor. The reactor includes a cylinder with a cylindrical channel, a mixing shaft located in the cylindrical channel, a longitudinal axis of the mixing shaft is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the cylinder, at least one blade that has a plurality of holes is attached to the mixing shaft. The slurry or the dispersions are continuously mixed to form aggregated pre-toner particles.

Method for continuous aggregation of pre-toner particles

A process and system for continuously making a resin emulsion suitable for use in forming toner particles includes at least one micromixer for micromixing a resin mixture and aqueous phase to continuously produce an emulsion of a high solids content. The process comprises contacting a polyester resin possessing acid groups with a component selected from the group consisting of an organic solvent and a solvent inversion agent to form a resin mixture; neutralizing the resin mixture with a neutralizing agent; and subjecting the resin mixture to micromixing.
