Rendering images in a virtual or augmented reality system may include capturing an image and spatial data with a body mounted camera and sensor array, receiving an input indicating a first anchor surface, calculating parameters with respect to the body mounted camera and displaying a virtual object such that the virtual object appears anchored to the selected first anchor surface. Further operations may include receiving a second input indicating a second anchor surface within the captured image that is different from the first anchor surface, calculating parameters with respect to the second anchor surface and displaying the virtual object such that the virtual object appears anchored to the selected second anchor surface and moved from the first anchor surface.

Rendering images in a virtual or augmented reality system may include performing operations for capturing an image of a scene in which a virtual object is to be displayed, recognizing a body part present in the captured image, and adjusting a display of the virtual object based upon the recognized body part. The rendering operations may also include capturing an image with a body mounted camera, capturing spatial data with a body mounted sensor array, recognizing objects within the captured image, determining distances to the recognized objects within the captured image, and displaying the virtual object on a head mounted display.

Described are various methods and apparatuses that provide for variants for multiple resource types and efficiently managing these resources by use of common variables and an organized file structure. A file structure is organize by a common variables, such as the $lang variable, and includes resource references such that once the common variable is defined, similar resources can be referenced using the same instruction by the use of modifying the common variable. Multiple resource types, including text, images as well as other resource types may be managed using the file structure disclosed herein.

Managing multiple languages in a data language

Apparatus, methods, and computer program products are disclosed for reducing the overhead associated with performing area-image operations on a tiled image. The invention detects when an area-image operation, that uses a source pixel contribution map, requires pixel values from one or more adjacent tiles. The invention also generates a list of boxes that represent pixel image information. These boxes are split with respect to the image edges and the tile edges within the image. The split boxes are used to direct memory buffer allocation for cobbled portions of the image and to leave the majority of the tile's pixel information to be operated on within memory buffer holding the tile. Thus, the invention provides a mechanism to assemble image data that crosses tile edges without copying major portions of the tile from one memory buffer to another. Additionally, each resulting box represents sufficient pixel values such that existing image processing techniques currently are applied to area-image operations can also be applied to tiled images. Thus, box can be processed by an MMX-like instruction or image hardware accelerator.
