A wire wrapping tool comprises a head which is formed integrally with a shaft. The head includes a frusto-conical portion which has a chordally extending portion cut away to define a cutting edge. A blade portion is formed on the head, the blade having a slot through which a wire can pass. The head also has an axially extending bore into which a wire wrapping post can be inserted. In use the shaft is attached to a pistol gun to rotate the head. Wire from which the insulation is to be stripped is passed over the edge, through the slot and around a wrapping post. As the wire passes over the edge a longitudinal slit is formed in the insulation which is then stripped away from the conductive core as the wire passes through the slot.

Apparatus for joining together two wires by deforming a crimping clip around the wires. The apparatus has a pair of crimping jaws and a support member for the clip, the jaws and support member moving into a crimping position to deform the clip around the wires. The jaws and support member are moved by a toggle linkage which develops an output force which varies with the condition of the toggle and increases as the jaws and support member move toward the crimping position.

Apparatus for joining wires

An electrical connector comprises a first body rotatably mounted in a hollow second member. In one form, the second member is a hollow cylinder and the first member has a cylindrical portion to fit the cylinder and a tapered portion of snail-cam cross-section to clamp a conductor inserted between the tapered portion and the bore of the second member. Clamping is achieved by relative rotation of the members, a recess for an Allen key being provided in the first member, and projections or serrations are provided to rupture insulation. In a second form, the second member is frusto-conical and the first member is correspondingly tapered. Also described, are an end-cap for the connector with projection-and-recess means to retain it in place, and the use of projections and corresponding recesses for axial location of the members and limitation of the degree of rotation. A double-ended connector is also shown.
