A multi-view (MV) system with multiple MV displays utilizes state information to assign personalized versions of content to display to viewers, thereby providing a coordinated MV display experience. These systems may include a sensing system for detecting viewers and other environmental conditions, and a controller to manage the content assignments for the MV displays. The controller can manage the viewer states, viewer state transitions, and content assignment changes based on changes of those viewers and conditions. The systems can be utilized to simultaneously present coordinated and personalized content to multiple viewers of multiple MV displays.

Coordinated multi-view display experiences

A multi-view (MV) display with reduced bezels is provided. An MV display device includes: i) a flat panel display (FPD) with a front emission surface and including: an interior image area comprising a plurality of FPD pixels, each comprising a plurality of sub-pixels; and a perimeter non-image area; ii) an image expansion layer comprising a first surface and a second surface, wherein the first surface is coupled to the front emission surface of the FPD; a profile of the second surface is equal to or extends beyond a profile of the perimeter non-image area of the FPD; and the plurality of FPD pixels of the front emission surface of the FPD are imaged from the first surface to the second surface of the image expansion layer; and iii) a front optic layer coupled to the second surface of the image expansion layer.

Multi-view display with reduced bezels comprising an image expansion layer

A multi-view (MV) display panel includes a flat panel display (FPD) having FPD pixels, and lenses configured to image the FPD. Each of the FPD pixels, when imaged through one of the lenses, forms a beamlet that is emitted in a direction unique from other beamlets formed by other FPD pixels through the lens. The lens and the FPD pixels which, when imaged through the lens, form beamlets emitted in different directions collectively configure an MV pixel. Each of the FPD pixels includes multiple sub-pixels. The MV display panel also includes a diffuser arranged between the FPD and the lenses, and a light block configured to isolate a diffusion of the multiple sub-pixels of each FPD pixel from its neighboring FPD pixels. The FPD may be backlit using custom lighting and optics. Lens elements may be staggered in a manner that facilitates assembly of the lenses.

Multi-view display panel

A system and method for simultaneously displaying, in plural spatially distinct zones via a multi-view display, differentiated content is disclosed. In accordance with the method, a plurality of spatially distinct zones are defined, differentiated content is assigned to the zones, a location for at least some of plural landing spots of beamlets projected by multi-view pixels of the multi-view display is estimated, the spatially distinct zone in which each said landing spots resides is determined, and beamlets associated with said some landing spots are driven to cause an appropriate content portion to be viewable at said some landing spots, as a function of location in a particular spatially distinct zone.

System and method for displaying location dependent content

A multi-view display system that permits viewers to individually interact therewith to communicate commands or viewing preferences is disclosed. Methods in accordance with the present teachings enable a multi-view display to deliver a unique content stream to each of plural viewers, based on the viewers' interactions with the multi-view display system, wherein the viewers are not in fixed locations.

Individually interactive multi-view display system for non-stationary viewing locations and methods therefor

A precision multi-view (MV) display system can accurately and simultaneously display different content to different viewers over a wide field of view. The MV display system may include features that enable individual MV display devices to be easily and efficiently tiled to form a larger MV display. A graphical interface enables a user to graphically specify viewing zones and associate content that will be visible in those zones in a simple manner. A calibration procedure enables the specification of content at precise viewing locations.

Precision multi-view display

A multi-view (MV) network bridge device includes an upstream interface, multiple downstream interfaces, and a controller. The controller receives, from the upstream interface, a specification of one or more viewing zones and a specification of one or more content streams. Also, the controller sends, on at least one of the downstream interfaces, at least a subset of each of the specifications received from the upstream interface. The upstream interface may be coupled to a computer that provides the specifications. Each of the downstream interfaces may be coupled to a different MV display panel. One of the downstream interfaces may be coupled to an MV display panel that is coupled to another MV display panel. One of the downstream interfaces may be coupled to an upstream interface of another MV network bridge device having a downstream interface coupled to an MV display panel.

Multi-view network bridge device

A multi-view (MV) transportation hub information system is provided, which includes: a MV display including one or more multi-view (MV) pixels, wherein each MV pixel is configured to emit beamlets in different directions; a sensing system configured to detect a first location of a first blob and a second location of a second blob; an input node configured to receive a first attribute of a first viewer and a second attribute of a second viewer; and a system controller configured to perform user tagging to tag the first blob with the first attribute and to tag the second blob with the second attribute. The system controller controls the MV pixels to project a first image based on the first attribute to the first viewer tagged with the first blob, and to project a second image based on the second attribute to the second viewer tagged with the second blob.

A multi-view display system that detects and locates viewers, establishes a set of characteristics for the viewers, generates or selects personalized content for each viewer based on the characteristics, and displays the personalized content, via at least one multi-view display, to the plurality of viewers simultaneously is disclosed.

Differentiated content delivery system and method therefor

A multi-view display system that enables viewers to individually interact with the system to provide information thereto is disclosed. The system includes a multi-view display, a system controller, and an input/communications device. In the illustrative embodiment, the input/communications device provides a way for a viewer to communicate, to the system, a viewing preference pertaining to the presentation of content and facilitates associating the viewing preference with a viewing location so that the content that is ultimately displayed via the multi-view display is viewable by viewer at the proper viewing location.

Individually interactive multi-view display system and methods therefor

A multi-view display is display capable of simultaneously showing different images to viewers that see the display from different locations. Viewers do not see the images intended for other viewers at other locations. A multi-view display forms images via a collection of multi-view pixels, which are the devices that make such image customization possible. A multi-view pixel is able to emit different light in different directions; in each direction, parameters of emitted light such as brightness, contrast, etc., can be controlled independently of the light emitted in other directions. In order for the display to generate good-quality images, it is useful to perform a calibration of the display that will yield accurate information about the relationships of light emitted by multi-view pixels and locations where images are to be made viewable. Embodiments of the present invention provide calibrations that achieve the desired result efficiently and accurately.

Method for calibrating a multi-view display

Systems and methods are described for displaying on a viewing surface of a multi-view display targeted instructional content to a first viewer in a viewing space such that other viewers in other locations of the viewing space are unable to observe the instructional content. The multi-view display is configured to provide differentiated content to viewers located in different positions around the display. In some embodiments, the viewing surface is located in a venue such as a theater, the first viewer is a speaker located on a stage in the venue, and the instructional content is text from a speech or performance to be presented by the speaker.
