Motion of an image capture device during capture of a video, such as a spherical video, is utilized to frame visual content of the video. The motion of the image capture device during video capture is used to determine how the visual content will be framed (e.g., for presentation, for inclusion in a video clip/video edit). The motion of the image capture device during video capture is determined using the visual content projected onto a plane using stereographic projection.

Systems and methods for framing videos based on motion

A graphical user interface may provide multiple views of a spherical video at the same time. The multiple views of the spherical video may include a front view and a rear view of the spherical video. The extent of the spherical video included within the front view may be controlled by the user. The extent of the spherical video included within the rear view may be automatically determined based on the extent of the spherical video included within the front view. The extent of the spherical video included within the rear view may be automatically determined to include the extent of the spherical video opposite the extent included within the front view.

Systems and methods for presenting multiple views of videos

A video edit may include two videos arranged in a sequence. Motion within the one or both of the videos may be assessed. A transition effect may be selected based on the motion assessed within the video(s), and the video edit may be modified to include the transition effect between the videos. The transition effect may emphasize the motion assessed within the video(s) and/or create continuity of motion during transition between the two videos within the video edit.

Systems and methods for inserting transitions into video edits

A graphical user interface may provide a views of a video. The graphical user interface may include a manual target element positioned over a spatial portion of the video. A user may interact with the spatial portion of the video within the manual target element to start recording viewing directions for the video. A user may interact with other spatial portions of the video to change the spatial parts of the video presented within the graphical user interface. A user may interact with the graphical user interface to utilize object tracking to record viewing directions for the video.

Systems and methods for setting viewing directions for videos

A media sequence includes media items arranged in a sequence. A graph is generated to represent animations available for the media items in the media sequence. The graph includes nodes that represent the available animations. The animations to be used in generating the media sequence is selected via selection of a path through the graph, and the media sequence is generated using the selected animations.
