In an aspect, the present disclosure provides a method for the oxidative coupling of methane to generate hydrocarbon compounds containing at least two carbon atoms (Ccompounds). The method can include mixing a first gas stream comprising methane with a second gas stream comprising oxygen to form a third gas stream comprising methane and oxygen and performing an oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) reaction using the third gas stream to produce a product stream comprising one or more Ccompounds.

Reactors and systems for oxidative coupling of methane

The present disclosure provides systems and methods for producing olefins via an oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) process. The systems and methods may comprise the use of a staged process comprising at least one non-adiabatic section that is in thermal communication with a heat transfer medium and at least one substantially adiabatic section. The systems and methods may also comprise the use of a diluent stream which may improve methane conversion in an OCM reactor and an ethylene/ethane ratio in a post-bed cracking unit. The methods and systems may further comprise injecting oxygen (O) and a paraffin into a gas stream containing a radical transfer agent to provide a reaction mixture. The reaction mixture may be held in a vessel for a time period greater than an auto-ignition delay time (AIDT), such that the reaction mixture may ignite to liberate heat and convert to a product mixture comprising olefins.

Systems and methods for the oxidative coupling of methane

Systems and methods conducive to the formation of one or more alkene hydrocarbons using a methane source and an oxidant in an oxidative coupling of methane (OCM) reaction are provided. One or more vessels each containing one or more catalyst beds containing one or more catalysts each having similar or differing chemical composition or physical form may be used. The one or more catalyst beds may be operated under a variety of conditions. At least a portion of the catalyst beds may be operated under substantially adiabatic conditions. At least a portion of the catalyst beds may be operated under substantially isothermal conditions.

Oxidative coupling of methane systems and methods

A soot resistant and efficient diesel fuel reformer for a diesel exhaust aftertreatment system has serially arranged first and second catalyst supports. The first support is nearer the inlet and has a monolith structure that is uniform in the direction of flow. The second support has a modified monolith structure that is non-uniform in the direction of flow. Preferably, the first support has straight channels. Preferably, the second support has internal leading edges spaced periodically through its length to break up the flow. The first support has a catalyst coating comprising at least an oxidation catalyst. The second support has a catalyst coating comprising at least a steam reforming catalyst.

Soot resistant diesel fuel reformer for diesel engine emissions aftertreatment

Processes are provided for making partially coated monolith catalysts that are useful, for example, as pre-combustor catalysts for diesel exhaust aftertreatment. Monolith substrates are provided with interconnectivity and/or temporary barriers that allow from about 10 to about 90% of the monolith channels to be coated after the monolith substrate is assembled without having to carefully pick out among a large number of openings which ones to inject into or which ones to plug. The invention includes options of injecting into a multipath monolith substrate and of emplacing blocking material during monolith construction. Either catalyst coating material or coat-blocking material can be injected. Blocking materials allow the use of machinery for ordinarily non-selective processes, such as machinery for dip coating. Both multipath injections and pre-placed barriers can be used in a single partial coating process.

Preparation method for a partially coated monolith

An exhaust aftertreatment system is provided with a large channel combustor, a fuel reformer, and a lean NOtrap. The lean NOtrap is denitrated by steps comprising: heating the fuel reformer to steam reforming temperatures by introducing vaporized fuel to the large channel combustor and combusting a portion of the vaporized fuel under lean conditions, then making the exhaust-injected fuel mixture overall rich, whereby the fuel reformer produces syn gas that denitrates the lean NOtrap. The fuel reformer has a low thermal mass, whereby it is designed to heat to at least about 500&#xb0; C. and catalyze steam reforming reaction with each denitration. The large channel combustor is a monolith having an average channel size larger than the fuel reformer and a thermal mass no more than about 20% that of the fuel reformer, whereby the large channel combustor facilitates low temperature startup of the fuel reformer.

The invention provides devices and methods for generating Hand CO in an Ocontaining gas stream. The invention also provides devices and methods for removal of NOfrom an Ocontaining gas stream, particularly the oxygen-rich exhaust stream from a lean-burning engine, such as a diesel engine. The invention includes a fuel processor that efficiently converts added hydrocarbon fuel to a reducing mixture of Hand CO. The added fuel may be a portion of the onboard fuel on a vehicle. The Hand CO are incorporated into the exhaust stream and reacted over a selective lean NOcatalyst to convert NOto N. thereby providing an efficient means of NOemission control.
