A portable carrier for papers, including two generally rectangular panels connected along one side and defining an interior there between. A closure is secured along three edges to the exterior of one of the panels to define a pouch between the one panel and the closure, with the pouch having an opening along a fourth edge. Two straps extend substantially parallel to two of the secured edges of the closure, with the straps each being secured in the pouch with one end at the pouch opening and the other end in the pouch adjacent the secured closure edge opposite the pouch opening. A pad is slidably connected along one side to the straps and has a storage position substantially within the pouch and a writing position outside the pouch on the closure. A mount is adapted to secure writing paper to the pad.

An illuminating eraser is provided. The eraser includes a body and an insert. The insert is receivable within a hollow portion of the body and includes a power source and a light emitting source. The power source is activated by applying pressure to the insert thereby causing the light emitting device to illuminate.

A shelf unit for a metallic locker including at least one set of legs, and a first shelf lying horizontally in the metallic locker on top of the set of legs. Each leg set includes at least three legs having a foot at their bottom and a head at their top, at least one of the legs being magnetic for attaching to the side wall of the metallic locker. A kit consisting of the components of the shelf unit is also provided.

An adjustable ruler includes two elongate ruler members and an adjustable clamping member. Each of the ruler members includes a longitudinal slot, outwardly facing channels along opposite sides of the slot, parallel longitudinal sides, and measuring indicia marked along the parallel longitudinal sides. The adjustable clamping member is received in each of the slots and includes first and second slide members and a selectively releasable connection between the first and second slide members. The slide members have parallel longitudinally extending flanges along opposite sides slidably secured in the channels of an associated ruler member. The releasable connection selectively permits relative pivoting of the slide members about a pivot axis, and includes a biasing member biasing the slide members apart, a threaded screw through the slide members, and a head threaded on an end of the screw to selectively secure the slide members together.
