The present invention generally relates to thawing a cryogenically frozen sample. The systems, devices, and methods may be used to heat a sample holder, the sample holder configured to receive a sample container holding the frozen sample. A sample thaw start time may be identified by measuring a temperature of the sample container and/or a temperature of the sample. A sample thaw end time may be calculated as a function of the sample thaw start time. In some embodiments, the same thaw start time may be identified by a significant change in a first derivative of a warming curve of recorded temperature measurements. The sample end time may be calculated by adding a constant to the sample thaw start time. The constant may be the average sample thaw time per the sample container.

Systems, devices, and methods for automated sample thawing

The disclosure is directed to an optically transparent visual display system that superimposes information onto the field of vision of a pilot or vehicle operator utilizing multiple wavelengths in order to extend the operator's range of vision. The display format may be presented on a head-up display (HUD) in a covert manner using near infra-red (NIR) light that is viewable with standard issue night vision goggles (NVGs) such as the AN/PVS-7, but not viewable to the unaided eye. Display information may originate from multiple wavelength sensors and illuminators for enhanced environmental and situational awareness that extend beyond the five human senses. Direct view displays, such as LCDs and instrument or vehicle lighting systems, may utilize NIR wavelengths that are viewable with NVGs but are not viewable to the unaided eye.

Multi-wavelength head up display systems and methods

Dual-function laser systems and methods are disclosed. In one implementation, an apparatus includes a laser source configured to emit a beam; a collimating optical system spaced apart from the laser source; and a diffractive element positioned to diffract the beam to provide a diffracted beam to the collimating optical system such that the collimating optical system refracts the diffracted beam to form an approximately collimated central portion and a diverging outer portion.
