A mobile computing device has a display with a curved (i.e. non-linear) surface along one or more edges. The curved surface is force (i.e. pressure) sensitive, such that an amount of pressure applied to the surface at a given point (or a region) of the surface is sensed and adapted to be converted into a control signal. One or more control signals generated by sensing a user's interaction with the curved surface are converted into user interface (UI) operations, such as the opening of one or more applications, application menus, or the like. Preferably, the amount of pressure applied by the user varies, and application of a first pressure generates a first control action, and application of a second pressure greater than the first pressure generates a second control action that is related to the first control action.

Force-based control for a mobile device having a non-linear surface

A technique for preparing screen content for remote display includes identifying non-shareable elements in the screen content and, prior to sending the screen content to a client machine for rendering by the client machine, selectively blurring the non-shareable elements, such that the client machine receives the screen content with the non-shareable elements already blurred.

Manipulating shared screen content

A technique for sharing screen content of a host machine with a client machine includes identifying multiple screen regions formed by image features within screen content of the host machine and enabling a user of the client machine to move selected screen regions to desired screen locations on the client machine, while leaving unselected screen regions in place. For example, when the user of the client machine selects and drags a particular screen region, the client machine creates a new window and displays the screen contents of the selected screen region in the new window, which the user may place and resize as desired.
