In one embodiment, a state machine may enable retraining of a link, where the state machine is to be initiated responsive to an external input received from a logic analyzer coupled to the link or a periodic timer. Such external input may indicate that the logic analyzer has lost synchronization with respect to link communications, and the retraining thus enables the logic analyzer to regain resynchronization. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Enabling resynchronization of a logic analyzer

A method and apparatus for point-to-point interconnect testing are described. In one embodiment, the method includes the determination of an expected behavior of a point-to-point link according to initial link training/configuration values of the link. The expected link behavior is determined according to link behavior during initial link configuration. A respective test value may be driven on at least one lane of the link to emulate lane break/degradation conditions during retraining of the link in response to a link reset. In one embodiment, an actual behavior of the link may be determined according to the behavior of the link during retraining of the link as lane break/degradation values are driven over the link. In one embodiment, a lane break/degradation condition is detected if the expected link behavior does not match the actual behavior of the link. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Apparatus and method for point-to-point interconnect testing

A method and apparatus for a programmable output interface which includes a switching device and an output driver. The switching device receives an enable signal, a selection signal, and an information signal. The switching device passes the enable signal or the information signal to an output of the switching device based on the selection signal. An output of the output driver is enabled by the output of the switching device. The output driver receives the information signal and passes the information to the output of the output driver if the output driver is enabled. The selection signal is usable to convert the output driver output to a tri-state output or an open collector output. The enable signal is usable to enable and disable the tri-state when the output driver output is a tri-state output.
