An automatic lifting toilet seat apparatus for raising the toilet seat after use to prevent mess includes a pair of seat sprockets is coupled to a seat back side of a toilet seat. A hinge pin is coupled to the pair of seat sprockets. A pair of hinges coupled to a toilet receives the hinge pin. A pair of lifter tracks is toothed and in operational communication with the pair of seat sprockets to rotate the hinge pin and lift the toilet seat. A drive cylinder is coupled within a cover coupled to the toilet and is in operational communication with the pair of lifter tracks. A motor is coupled to the cover and is in operational communication with the drive cylinder. The motor is in operational communication with a motion sensor of the toilet to automatically lift the toilet seat after use and before flushing.

Methods are provided for treating conditions including chronic pelvic pain, in which there are palpable trigger points of local areas of muscle restriction and spasticity that recreate or refer pain of patients complaints upon palpation, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, pelvic floor myalgia, pelvic floor dysfunction, interstitial cystitis, levator ani syndrome, coccygodynia, prostatodynia, piriformis syndrome, anal sphincter pain, bowel movement pain, post bowel movement pain, ejaculatory pain, post ejaculatory pain, sitting pain, post bowel movement pain, rectal pain, tailbone pain, urinary frequency, urinary urgency, urinary hesitancy, post urinary pain, overactive bladder, perineal pain, penile pain, vaginismus, anismus, sexual dysfunction, reduced level of ejaculate or reduced penile erection, myofascial pain in muscle tissue of a patient who has one or more trigger points in the muscle tissue, or the pain/sensitivity of pelvic floor muscle trigger points and specific areas of myofascial restriction detected upon palpation in a patient comprising administering to the one or more trigger points of the patient in need thereof a therapeutically effective amount of a calcium channel blocker, or L-arginine, or a combination of a calcium channel blocker and L-arginine, or pharmaceutically acceptable salts, hydrates, solvates and prodrugs thereof; the application of the topical form of the drug can be applied by the patient regularly as part of a self treatment program to heal muscle related pain and muscle related pelvic pain and each optionally together with a corticosteroid such as cortisone of hydrocortisone. The invention further provides methods for myofascial release, trigger point release, and the use of dilators with and without calcium channel blockers for pain conditions. The invention further provides pharmaceutical compositions, kits and applicator devices useful in the methods of the invention.

Compositions and methods for treating pelvic pain and other conditions

A hand-held internal therapeutic massager includes a rod having a first portion that defines a curve and a second portion that is substantially straight. The first portion of the rod is adapted to be inserted into a patient's body. A curvature of the curve defined by the first portion of the rod is sufficient to prevent the second portion of the rod from entering a patient's body. A handle is located on the second portion of the rod and a pressure applicator on the first portion of the rod is adapted to be inserted into the patient's body for engagement with a localized area of myofascial tissue. A vibratory device is disposed within the handle and is operable to generate vibrations. The vibrations generated by the vibratory device are conducted through the rod to the pressure applicator to the localized area of myofascial tissue.

Method and apparatus for treating pelvic pain

An apparatus for use with an existing Western-style toilet having a toilet bowl facilitates use of a squatting posture thereon. The apparatus includes a platform assembly including: a mounting flange that is connectable to the toilet bowl, and a support platform that is pivotally connected to the mounting flange. The support platform defines first and second spaced-apart foot support surfaces to support a person's feet and a gap through which the person's waste products can pass.

An apparatus for treating pelvic pain and related urinary and sexual dysfunction includes a rod having a first end and a second end. A pressure applicator is attached to the second end of the rod. The pressure applicator is adapted to be inserted into a patient's body cavity for engagement with a myofascial trigger point. A sensor produces an output signal in response to deflection of the rod when pressure is applied to the myofascial trigger point by the pressure applicator.

In the method of the present invention, a trigger point is located in the patient's pelvic floor, the patient inserts the apparatus either vaginally or rectally to allow contact of the pressure applicator of the apparatus with the pelvic floor, pressure is applied to the trigger point using the apparatus, and microcurrent electrical stimulation is applied to the trigger point using a microcurrent electrical stimulation unit that is electrically connected to the pressure applicator.

An apparatus for discharging bodily wastes has a receptacle for holding a person's bodily waste products, including an upwardly facing opening for receiving the waste products. A forward load-bearing member extends from the receptacle to provide a support for at least one foot of a person discharging waste products into the receptacle. A rear load-bearing member arranged to engage the lower torso of the person above the buttocks when the person has at least one foot in the forward load-bearing member. The rear load-bearing member and the forward load bearing member are spaced apart a distance that is sufficient to hold a person therebetween with the person's buttocks suspended over the opening of the receptacle and the person's center of gravity behind the one foot supported in the forward load bearing member.

A high speed aperture card printer and method include a rotatable glass cylinder temporarily to transport aperture cards fed one directly after the other onto the cylinder. The aperture cards are tightly held against the cylinder by parallel endless belts positioned on either side of the microfilm carried by the aperture card so as to leave one surface of the microfilm uncovered. The printer includes an optics system passing light radially outwardly through the rotating glass cylinder and the microfilm transported thereby optically to scan images on the microfilm for printing copies thereof on plain paper.

High speed aperture card printer and method

A broad magnification ratio range, microform to paper printing system includes a fixed focal length objective lens, a selectively adjustable short zoom mirror assembly, a selectively adjustable long zoom mirror assembly and optical switching means selectively to exclude or include the long zoom mirror assembly to provide the optical path length needed for the magnification ratio selected. The printing system may include an aperture shutter assembly positioned immediately adjacent the image slit of the optical system, the aperture shutter assembly having two blades operative to set the aperture width therebetween to control drum exposure and also operative selectively to close the aperture therebetween to block drum exposure.

Microform printer

A roll microfilm printer and method includes preview optics sequentially to scan microfilm images for temporarily recording at least edge location and background density data and printing optics sequentially to print the microfilm images onto plain paper with masking and exposure control based upon the prerecorded data from the preview optics. The preview optics include a sensor board having an array of photo diode sensors to receive a light beam that sequentially passes through microfilm images contained on the moving microfilm strip, the optically sensed data from the images is electronically converted and temporarily recorded for use in subsequently controlling the printing optics. The printing optics includes a high speed mask assembly positioned adjacent the moving microfilm strip, the mask assembly having two high speed stepper motors controlled in accordance with the prerecorded data to drive edge masks toward or away from one another to mask unused image areas.
