Cooling systems for microprocessors are addressed. Some systems may include a chemical vapor deposited (CVD) diamond heatspreader mounted to a base of a heat sink and to a microprocessor chip, while others may include a copper insert mounted within a depression of a heat sink, with the CVD diamond heatspreader mounted within an indent of the insert.

A method and system for previewing accessories prior to purchasing is disclosed. In one embodiment a first image of a portion of a person can be provided to an input device. Then, a second image including an image of an accessory is selected from an electronic database of accessory images. After obtaining the first and second images, data of the first and second images are used to generate data of a composite image, preferably on a server computer. The composite image is displayed on an output device and includes an image of the accessory on the person. The input device, the output device, and the client computer can be located at a first location, while the server computer is located at a second location. In this image, the accessory can be previewed by the customer before purchasing the accessory. Preferably, the accessories include sunglasses, jewelry, eyeglasses or other personal fashion items, which are purchased over the Internet or at a kiosk in communication with the Internet.

Previewing system and method

A method is disclosed for producing large single crystals. According to the initial steps of this method, a plurality of single crystal wafers are crystallographically oriented to form a seed plate which is patterned. The patterned seed plate is selectively etched to expose the bare surface of the seed plate. The exposed, patterned bare surface of the seed plate is etched to form a plurality of nucleation structures. Each of the nucleation structures protrude outwardly from the underlying surface of the seed plate and provide ideal structures for the growth of large, single crystals. The resulting large, single crystals can be separated from the seed crystals by etching, physical or chemical means.

Method for the growth of industrial crystals

A method is disclosed for producing large single crystals. In one embodiment, a single crystal of electronic grade diamond is produced having a thickness of approximately 100-1000 microns and an area of substantially greater than 1 cm..sup.2. and having a high crystalline perfection which can be used in electronic, optical, mechanical and other applications. A single crystalline diamond layer is first deposited onto a master seed crystal and the resulting diamond layers can be separated from the seed crystal by physical, mechanical and chemical means. The original master seed can be restored by epitaxial growth for repetitive use as seed crystal in subsequent operations. Large master single crystal diamond seed can be generated by a combination of oriented smaller seed crystals by lateral epitaxial fusion. Since there is no limit to how many times seed combination step can be repeated, large diamond freestanding wafers comparable in size to silicon wafers can be manufactured.

The invention disclosed in this application is a process for the production of a premium grade needle coke which is historically feedstock dependent. The selected feedstock for this process is a hydrotreated SRC material (solvent refined coal) which produces a premium grade needle coke having a low ash, low sulfur and low solids content. The hydrotreating of the SRC material, before conversion to the premium grade needle coke, changes the molecular structure of the product by putting hydrogen therein and results in a different arrangement of the aromatic molecules in the resultant premium grade needle coke.

A method is provided for reducing the concentration of basic nitrogen compounds in hydrocarbonaceous feedstock fluids used in the refining industry by providing a solid particulate carbonaceous adsorbent/fuel material such as coal having active basic nitrogen complexing sites on the surface thereof and the coal with a hydrocarbonaceous feedstock containing basic nitrogen compounds to facilitate attraction of the basic nitrogen compounds to the complexing sites and the formation of complexes thereof on the surface of the coal. The adsorbent coal material and the complexes formed thereon are from the feedstock fluid to provide a hydrocarbonaceous fluid of reduced basic nitrogen compound concentration. The coal can then be used as fuel for boilers and the like.

An improved coal liquefaction process is provided whereby coal conversion is improved and yields of pentane soluble liquefaction products are increased. In this process, selected feed coal is pulverized and slurried with a process derived solvent, passed through a preheater and one or more dissolvers in the presence of hydrogen-rich gases at elevated temperatures and pressures, following which solids, including mineral ash and unconverted coal macerals, are separated from the condensed reactor effluent. The selected feed coals comprise washed coals having a substantial amount of mineral matter, preferably from about 25-75%, by weight, based upon run-of-mine coal, removed with at least 1.0% by weight of pyritic sulfur remaining and exhibiting vitrinite reflectance of less than about 0.70%.
