Improved preparations for the treatment of androgenetic alopecia comprise saw palmetto berry extract containing phytosterols and one or more low irritability constituents that enhance penetration of the extract into hair follicular pores. The low irritability penetration enhancer(s) may be selected from the group consisting of adapalene, tretinoin, retinaldehyde, tazarotene, salicylic acid, azelaic acid, and glycolic acid. Also provided is a method for reducing hair loss by application to the scalp of the improved preparations.

Topical preparation for the treatment of hair loss

A connector is provided, of the type that includes a largely insulative insert device (14) that fits closely into a metal shell (24), and wherein the metal shell fits into a diecast housing (32) that can be tightly clamped in place, wherein the insert device and shell are separately held to the housing. The housing has a vertical hole (34) for receiving the insert, and has horizontally-opening slots (46, 48) at opposite ends of the hole. The shell has a casing portion with a vertical hole (26) that closely receives the insert, and has a pair of largely horizontal flange portions (42, 44) that fit into the slots in the housing, until the holes in the housing and shell are aligned so the insert device can be received in both of them. The flange portions are bent in a largely wave-like manner, to provide good electrical connection with the walls of the slots in the housing.

Shielded interface connector

A connector is described which has contacts with wire termination ends (24) for connecting to two ribbon-like wire groups (16, 18) wherein the wires in each group alternate between grounded wires (26c) and signal-carrying wires (26a), and wherein the contacts have connector mating ends (22) arranged in two rows including one row (1) of signal contacts and another (2) of grounded contacts. The contacts are arranged in groups of four on an insulative body (40), with the termination ends (24a, 24d) of first and fourth contacts lying respectively on first and second sides (46, 48) of the body. The termination ends (24b, 24c) of second and third contacts are each bent to extend through a slot (66b, 66c) in the body so while the contact mating end (e.g. 22b) lies in a row (1) at one side of the body, its termination end (24b) lies in a row (6) at the other side of the body.

Connector for paired wire cable

A right-angle termination for a coaxial conductor is described, which has an access aperture that provides good access for soldering the inner conductor of the termination device to the inner conductor of a coaxial cable, and which enables rapid and easy closure of the access aperture. A sleeve is slideably mounted about the outer conductor of the termination device, to slide between an open position away from the access aperture, and a closed position over the access aperture.

Termination system for coaxial conductor

A connector for an IC memory card having a printed circuit member mounted within the housing of the card which extends into a slot opening at the edge of the card. The connector contains two rows of contacts which are engageable with conductive traces on the opposite sides of the printed circuit member when the card is inserted into the connector. The contacts in the connector are reversely bent to form inner arms joined to outer arms by nose portions. The inner arms of the contacts in the two rows are normally spaced apart a distance greater than the thickness of the printed circuit member so that when the card is initially inserted into the connector, the noses of the contacts will pass freely over the border of the printed circuit member. Thereafter, the sidewalls of the housing of the card cam the outer arms of the contacts inwardly, forcing the inner arms into engagement with the traces on the printed circuit member in the card.

Connector for IC card

A connector assembly is described for fitting in a small space between a display panel device and a printed circuit board device, to electrically connect a multiplicity of closely-spaced conductors on the devices. The connector assembly includes a row of contact elements with opposite ends for contacting the conductors of the devices, and with curved middle portions that are nested in one another. The middle portions of the elements are sandwiched between the substantially flat faces of a housing, and the opposite ends of the elements project through openings in the housing.

Connector assembly for making multiple connections in a thin space

A connector is described, of a type which can be connected to a circuit board by merely laying it on the board and soldering it in place by a reflow solder technique. The connector includes a housing assembly with a substantially flat bottom that includes a solderable portion that can lie on a metal trace of a circuit board to be soldered thereto. The connector includes a row of contacts, each having a main portion within the housing and a tail extending at a downward incline from the housing so the lower end of the tail can contact a metal trace on the circuit board and become soldered thereto.

Surface mounting connector

An improvement is described in a low insertion force connector system wherein an insertable circuit assembly is inserted into a housing against an inplace circuit assembly, with the terminals adjacent but out of contact, at which time a cam is actuated to move a device that deflects one set of terminals against the other. In the present system, the cam includes a portion that deflects against an auxillary terminal to make contact with it before the main terminals are in contact.

Low insertion force connector system

A self-locking electrical connector is disclosed in which a locking ring is mounted in an annular groove in the interior of a coupling nut on the plug of the connector. When the plug is mated with the receptacle, inwardly extending projections on the locking ring ride up over a low-angle ramp on the shell of the receptacle and then snap into a locking groove formed in the receptacle shell behind the ramp to lock the connector members together. The surface of the locking groove next to the low-angle ramp is formed as a high-angle ramp which allows removal of the projections of the ring from the groove when the coupling nut is rotated with high torque to unthread from the shell. In an alternative embodiment, the locking ring is carried by the receptacle shell, and the locking groove and angular ramps are formed on the inner surface of the coupling nut.

Self-locking electrical connector

A combined EMI/RFI shield and environmental sealing element for an electrical connector in which a helical coil spring is partially embedded in an elastomeric ring having an enlarged sealing portion on at least one side of the spring. The exposed surfaces of the coil spring engage facing peripheral surfaces on the shells of the mating connector halves of the electrical connector.

An insulation displacement connector is disclosed which is particularly adapted for use with flat cable having closely spaced conductors. The termination end of each contact in the connector is partially bent about a vertical axis providing an intermediate curved portion and a pair of elongated side edges. The side edges of each contact engage a conductor of the cable at two longitudinally spaced locations thereon while the intermediate curved portion of the contact, which is preferably coated with an insulation material, supports the adjacent conductor of the cable.

An interconnection system for coupling electrical and air pressurized conductors carried by an aircraft wing and a missile pylon mounted on the wing. The interconnection system provides a rapidly releasable positive lock between the pylon and the wing.

A printed circuit board connector is disclosed wherein the pattern of the wire-wrap posts of the contacts in the connector is different from the pattern, and the spacing, of the contacting sections of the contacts which engage the printed circuit board. The bottom of the connector is in the form of a substrate containing plated-through holes which receive printed circuit board engaging contacts without wire-wrap posts, as well as feed-through contacts which are offset from the other contacts and joined thereto by conductive traces on the substrate. A second set of printed circuit board engaging contacts having wire-wrap posts may be provided wherein the contacting sections of the printed circuit board engaging contacts of the connector are positioned more closely than the spacing between the wire-wrap posts of the connector.
