Acoustic transducer systems are described herein and in particular, acoustic transducer systems involving high displacement are described. An example acoustic transducer system includes an acoustic driver, a diaphragm position sensing module for generating a position signal corresponding to a displacement of a diaphragm of the acoustic driver, and a controller operable to: receive an input audio signal; generate a control signal based at least on the input audio signal and the position signal; and transmit the control signal to a voice coil operably coupled to the diaphragm so that the voice coil moves within an air gap within the acoustic driver at least partially in response to the control signal. A height of the voice coil can correspond substantially to a gap height in some embodiments.

High displacement acoustic transducer systems

Acoustic transducer systems involving position sensing, and methods of operating and providing the acoustic transducer systems, are described herein. The described systems include a driver motor with a voice coil structure coupled to a diaphragm, the voice coil structure movable within an air gap in response to a magnetic flux; a position sensor to generate a position signal to represent a displacement of the diaphragm; and a system controller to modify an input signal based on the position signal and transmit the modified input signal to a voice coil so the voice coil can move in response to the modified input signal. The position sensor can generate the position signal based on optical sensing or strain measurements.

Acoustic transducer systems with position sensing

The disclosure generally relates to acoustic transducers with stationary and moving coils, and methods for operating the acoustic transducers. Time varying signals are applied to the moving and stationary coils to control the movement of a diaphragm, which produces sound. The time varying signals are derived from a composite signal that is provided, via a pair of conductors, to the acoustic transducer. The time varying signals are derived based on various filter methods.

Acoustic transducer systems involving tilt control, and methods for operating the acoustic transducer systems, are described herein. An example acoustic transducer system includes: a driver motor to generate a magnetic flux; a diaphragm operably coupled to the driver motor; a voice coil structure coupled to the diaphragm and movable in response to the magnetic flux, the voice coil structure includes: a former; a voice coil coupled to the former and movable in response to an input audio signal; and a tilt control coil coupled to the former; a tilt sensing module coupled to the voice coil structure and detects a misalignment of the voice coil structure relative to an initial alignment of the voice coil structure; and a controller for transmitting the input audio signal to the voice coil; and generating and transmitting a correction signal to the tilt control coil for minimizing the misalignment of the voice coil structure.

Acoustic transducer systems with tilt control

This invention relates to acoustic transducers with stationary and moving coils, and methods for operating the acoustic transducers. Time varying signals are applied to the moving and stationary coils to control the movement of a diaphragm, which produces sound. The time varying signal applied to the moving coil corresponds to at least a processed version of an input audio signal and is updated based on, at least, a version of the time varying signal applied to the stationary coil. Some embodiments include updating the processed version of the input audio signal in response to a magnetic flux value corresponding to the time-varying signal applied to the stationary coil. Some embodiments include updating the time-varying signal applied to the moving coil in response to a feedback signal.
