A house clamp assembly having a fixed jaw and a slide bar mounted movable jaw, the fixed jaw opposing the movable jaw. A one-way drive means, by operation of a trigger handle grip, releasably engages the slide bar and advances the movable jaw towards the fixed jaw. The one-way drive means is incapable of moving the slide bar and movable jaw away from the fixed jaw. A return motion of the movable jaw (separating) is accomplished manually when the one-way drive means is disengaged. A braking lever, which is biased to bind the slide bar, prevents reverse motion of the slideable jaw away from the fixed jaw, except when the first lever is disengaged from the slide bar. The first housing and the second housing are cooperatively shaped to enclose a first portion of the device when the device is coupled to the mounting fixture. A method of making a multilayer film is provided, including the steps of forming a core layer of a polypropylene film, monoaxially orienting the core layer in a first direction, and providing at least one multilayer cap layer to at least one side of the core layer to provide a multilayer film. The cap layer includes a non-crystallizable, amorphous polyester layer having a sufficient proportion of a non-crystallizable, amorphous polyester to render the amorphous polyester layer non-crystallizable and a first tie layer interposed between the polyester layer and the core layer, the first tie layer including an adhesive. The multilayer film is then oriented in a second direction transverse to the first direction.

Oriented polymeric film coated with polyethyleneimine is disclosed, in which the polyethyleneimine is coated in-line, i.e., during the film manufacturing process for forming the polymeric film and before heat setting the film. In-line polyethyleneimine coated polymeric film, when used to make a laminate with other polymers such as polyethylene or ionomer type polymers, shows no signs of delamination between the polymeric film and the extrusion coated polymer after 2 hours in water at 121.degree. C. at 15 psi. In-line coating polyethyleneimine on the polymeric film can occur before any orientation of the polymeric film, during interdraw, with respect to biaxially oriented film, or after orienting the film, so long as the coating occurs before heat setting the film. The preferred polymeric film is polyethylene terephthalate.

A two-step, sequential coating method is disclosed which permits the use of aqueous precursor solutions to coat water-insoluble compounds onto thermoplastic film. In a preferred embodiment, an aqueous oleic acid/ammonium oleate solution is coated onto amorphous polyester sheet which is subsequently monoaxially oriented by stretching in the machine direction, and coated with an aqueous solution of calcium hydroxide, thereby forming a layer of calcium oleate in situ. The coated film is subsequently biaxially oriented by stretching in the transverse direction, and heat-set.
