Methods, systems, and devices for cell-reselection over mobile networks using beamforming

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, providing, over a mobile network, first instructions to a first serving base station to indicate to a first communication device communicatively coupled to the first serving base station to obtain a beam bitmap of a group of base stations in proximity to the first serving base station. Further embodiments can include receiving, over the mobile network, the beam bitmap from the first serving base station, and determining a beam density for each of the group of base stations. Additional embodiments can include adjusting a neighbor list to include the beam density for each of the group of base stations resulting in an adjusted neighbor list. Further embodiments can include selecting a receiving base station from a group of base stations based on the group of measurement reports, and providing instructions to the serving base station to handover the first communication device to the receiving base station. An architecture to dynamically create fifth generation technology based geofences around defined areas to ensure the safe operation of user equipment (UE). A method can comprise determining that first serving cell equipment is servicing an aerial user equipment determining that the first serving cell equipment has enabled beamforming, determining that a first beam of a group of beams is being used to service the aerial user equipment, determining a second beam of the group of beams that the first serving cell equipment will use to service to the aerial user equipment, determining that a handover event from the first serving cell equipment to a second serving cell equipment will occur, and causing the first serving cell equipment to adjust an emitted power level associated with the second beam.

An architecture for facilitating smart physical cell identity (PCI) configuration for aerial network equipment that can used in terrestrial 4G and/or 5G LTE wireless networking paradigms. A method can comprise: receiving, from core network equipment, an instruction to travel from a first geographic location to a second geographic location, wherein the second geographic location has been determined, by the core network equipment, as representing a hotspot location; traveling from the first geographic location to the hotspot location; based on crossing a boundary associated with the hotspot location, initiating execution of a user equipment relay process that transitions the aerial user equipment from being user equipment to being aerial network equipment; and transmitting to the core network equipment that the user equipment relay process has been successfully initiated.

An enhanced automatic neighbor relation ('ANR') function can estimate a plurality of terrestrial cells within a coverage area of an aerial cell. The enhanced ANR function can monitor an exchange of a serving cell unique identifier sent to a target cell and a target cell unique identifier sent to a serving cell. The enhanced ANR function can determine a serving cell type and a target cell type, wherein the serving cell type and the target cell type identify the serving cell and the target cell, respectively, as either a terrestrial cell type or an aerial cell type. The enhanced ANR function can then determine whether a serving cell neighbor relation table (“NRT”) associated with the serving cell, a target cell NRT associated with the target cell, or both would be compromised if a corresponding NR is added into the serving cell NRT and the target cell NRT.

Overcoming neighbor relation table conflicts among terrestrial and aerial cells in mobile telecommunications networks

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, collecting performance information for a plurality of user equipment (UE) devices and a base station in a radio communication network, determining that one or more UE devices experience a synchronization failure attempting to connect to a base station, determining to temporarily boost transmit power of a synchronization signal block by the base station to facilitate synchronization, determining a boosted power level of the transmit power of the synchronization signal block to minimize disruption to UE devices in an overlapping area between a first cell coverage area of the base station and a second cell coverage area of an adjacent base station, transmitting the synchronization signal block by the base station at the boosted power level for reception by the UE devices, and connecting one or more UE devices to the base station. Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a processing system detects user equipment (UE) in communication with a network via a serving cell of the network; the network is configured to facilitate communications by one or more terrestrial UEs and one or more aerial UEs. The system monitors messages from an aerial UE regarding detection of a cell other than the serving cell, and receives information from the aerial UE regarding the detected cell. The method further includes analyzing the information to estimate a first quantity associated with the detected cell location relative to the serving cell and a second quantity associated with a power received at the aerial UE from the detected cell. The method also includes determining, based on the analyzing, whether the aerial UE is an unauthorized aerial UE. Other embodiments are disclosed.

System and method to identify unauthorized aerial user equipment over a terrestrial network

The technologies described herein are generally directed to determining a response by a user equipment to a signal from a base station based on transmission signal strength relayed with the signal in a fifth generation (5G) network or other next generation networks. For example, a method described herein can include receiving initial signal from base station equipment, with the initial signal encoding a signal strength of the base station transmission, which can facilitate establishing a connection between the user equipment and the base station equipment. The method can further include, based on the signal strength value, estimating a likelihood that a response signal from the user equipment would be able to reach base station equipment. Further, the method can include, based on the estimated likelihood, determine a response to initial signal.

Determining a response by user equipment to a base station signal based on transmission signal strength relayed with the signal

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, an aerial base station determining operating frequencies of terrestrial base stations, and taking one or more actions to reduce the potential for interference between the aerial base station and the terrestrial base stations. An architecture to reduce or eliminate uplink interference induced by aerial user equipment (UE) when aerial UE is introduced into groups of terrestrial based UE operating in terrestrial fourth generation (4G) long term evolution (LTE), fifth generation (5G) networks. A method can comprise determining a number of terrestrial based user equipment impacted by uplink interference caused by uplink transmissions associated with aerial user equipment, wherein the aerial user equipment and the terrestrial based user equipment are controlled by serving cell equipment; determining an enclosed area that bounds the number of terrestrial based user equipment; and initiating a carrier aggregation process on the aerial user equipment, wherein the carrier aggregation divides the uplink transmissions associated with the aerial user equipment over a group of serving cell equipment included in the enclosed area.

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving a notification from a serving base station regarding a communication device over a mobile network indicating discovery of a target base station, and obtaining a device type of the communication device and a first cell identifier of the target base station. Further embodiments include providing instructions to the serving base station to request the communication device to obtain a second cell identifier of the target base station, and obtaining the second cell identifier of the target base station from the serving base station over the mobile network.
