An optical analysis device for determining particulate matter includes three light sources having different wavelengths, an apparatus for combining the three transmitted light beams on a common optical path, a measurement volume, an optical axis in the forward scattering direction that defines the scattering angle 0&#xb0;, a light absorption apparatus at 0&#xb0; that absorbs unscattered light, and six detectors arranged at different specified angles which are as close as possible to 0&#xb0; directly next to the light absorption apparatus, at a second scattering angle between 7&#xb0; and 40&#xb0;, at a third scattering angle between 41&#xb0; and 70&#xb0;, at a fourth scattering angle between 71&#xb0; and 115&#xb0;, at a fifth scattering angle between 116&#xb0; and 145&#xb0;, at a sixth scattering angle between 146&#xb0; and 180&#xb0;. A control and evaluation unit controls the light sources such that the scattered light is detected in a wavelength selective manner by the detectors.

A method for assembling a shear web assembly of a wind turbine includes providing at least one spar cap. The method also includes forming a spar connecting member of a thermoplastic material via additive manufacturing. Further, the method includes securing the spar connecting member to the spar cap. Moreover, the method includes providing a shear web, forming a web connecting member of a thermoplastic material via additive manufacturing, and securing the web connecting member at a first end of the shear web. In addition, the method includes interconnecting the web connecting member and the spar connecting member at a joint. Thus, the method further includes heating the joint to secure the web connecting member and the spar connecting member together.

A wind turbine blade and method of manufacture, the blade extending between root and tip ends on a longitudinal axis and having root, transition, and airfoil regions. The blade has a profiled contour with a chord extending between the leading and trailing edges; a blade shell with a first blade shell part with a pressure side and a second blade shell part with a suction side, the blade shell parts extending between root and tip ends and are joined on a primary glue joint; first and second main spar caps integrated in the first and the second blade shell parts, respectively, and have one or more shear webs there between. A third blade shell part may be present and joined to the first blade shell part along a first secondary glue joint and to the second blade shell part along a second secondary glue joint.

Wind turbine blade with flatback root segment and related method

Methods for manufacturing a wind turbine rotor blade having a flatback airfoil configuration along at least a portion of a span of the rotor blade include providing a shell mold of the rotor blade. The method also includes laying up an outer skin layer of the rotor blade into the shell mold. Further, the method includes placing at least one pre-fabricated corner of the flatback airfoil configuration into the shell mold. The pre-fabricated corner(s) has a pointed edge. The method also includes infusing the outer skin layer with the pre-fabricated corner(s) to form the flatback airfoil configuration.
