A heater body including an outer periphery. A plurality of slots extend from the outer periphery and terminate within the heater body. A plurality of core segments are defined between pairs of adjacent slots. A plurality of bend regions are arranged around respective terminal ends of the slots. Each pair of adjacent core segments is connected by a corresponding one of the bend regions. An auxiliary conductive feature is located within each of the bend regions. The plurality of slots electrically disconnect each pair of adjacent core segments from each other to create a serpentine current-carrying path that extends across the heater body through the electrically conductive material of the core segments and the bend regions. Each of the auxiliary conductive features locally reduces an electrical resistance of the heater body in the bend regions in comparison to the electrically conductive material alone.

An electrical heater and a method of heating a catalyst. The heater includes a honeycomb body that includes a honeycomb structure. The honeycomb structure includes a central axis extending longitudinally and a plurality of interconnected walls. The interconnected walls include a plurality of radial walls extending along a radius of the honeycomb body between the central axis and an outermost periphery of the honeycomb body and a plurality of angular walls arranged concentrically with respect to the central axis and spanning between the radial walls. The honeycomb structure includes a plurality of cells defined by the interconnected walls. The heater comprises a first electrode disposed at the central axis and a second electrode disposed radially outwardly of the central axis and in electrical communication with the first electrode via one or more of the intersecting walls that are located between the first electrode and second electrode.

Systems and methods for electrically heating a catalyst with a honeycomb body having radial walls

An electrical heater, an exhaust treatment assembly, and method of manufacture. The heater includes a resistive portion configured to generate heat when electrical current is passed therethrough. A plurality of slots extend into the resistive portion from an outer periphery of the resistive portion and define a serpentine current-carrying path extending through the resistive portion between a pair of electrode attachment portions. Each of the electrode attachment portions is connected to a respective end segment that is bounded between an outer periphery of the resistive portion and a respective first slot of the plurality of slots. At least one auxiliary slot in each of the end segments that extends from the outer periphery toward the first slot in a direction transverse to the first slot to bias current flow through a concentrated region adjacent to and extending along the first slot in each end segment.

An electrical heater and method for heating a catalyst. The electrical heater includes a honeycomb body having a central axis extending longitudinally therethrough. The honeycomb body includes a matrix of intersecting walls forming a plurality of cells extending axially through the honeycomb body. A plurality of electrodes are positioned about an outer periphery of the honeycomb body. The plurality of electrodes are arranged into a plurality of pairs of electrodes that comprises at least a first pair of electrodes and a second pair of electrodes. Each pair of electrodes includes a first electrode and a second electrode. An electrode length of the electrodes along the outer periphery is proportional to a central current path length between center points of the electrodes of that pair of electrode. The electrode lengths of the electrodes of the first and second pairs of electrode are different.

A method of assembling a display area includes selecting a first tile from a plurality of tiles, each tile of the plurality of tiles includes a predetermined parameter and a plurality of microLEDs defining a plurality of pixels. The method includes selecting a second tile from the plurality of tiles based on a value of the predetermined parameter of the second tile. The method further includes positioning the first tile and the second tile into an array defining at least a portion of the display area. A positive electrode and a negative electrode are in electrical communication with each other via the resistive paths. The positive electrode and the negative electrode are operatively positioned to generate a respective flow of current through each resistive path. The lengths of at least two of the resistive paths differ from each other. The resistive paths are configured with respect to the at least one positive electrode and the at least one negative electrode such that the current in each of the resistive paths is substantially equal.

The plugs include a first active component, such as a catalytically active component or a chemically active component, of the plug structure, wherein the intersecting walls comprise no first active component and optionally have a second active component of the wall structure or disposed on the walls. Included are methods of making the ceramic honeycomb body having plugs of the first active component and walls with no first active component.
