The antenna assembly is characterized by a through glass panel connection to provide a more aesthetically pleasing appearance.

A telematics device of a vehicle, comprising includes a temperature sensor to sense temperature of the telematics device; and a processor in communication with the temperature sensor. The processor is programmed to disable over-the-air software update functionality responsive to the temperature exceeding a first predefined threshold value, disable hotspot functionality responsive to the temperature exceeding a second predefined threshold value, and disable remote services functionality responsive to the temperature exceeding a third predefined threshold value.

Temperature-based embedded modem feature scaling

An automotive vehicle has a fixed glass panel with an aperture and a sliding glass panel mounted to the fixed glass panel adapted to selectably cover the aperture. The glass panels carry a heater grid having a plurality of vertical bus bars interconnected by a plurality of horizontal defrost traces. The bus bars are configured to be selectably connected to a power supply for providing resistive heating. The sliding glass panel is limited to a plurality of restricted positions. Each restricted position has at least one bus bar on the sliding glass panel overlapping one of the bus bars on the fixed glass panel to provide capacitive coupling between the overlapping bus bars of RF signals impinging on the horizontal traces. An antenna coupler connected to a bus bar on the fixed glass panel transmits the RF signals to an RF receiver.

A vehicle may include a battery and an antenna assembly mounted on the vehicle. The antenna assembly may be mounted on the roof of the vehicle. The antenna assembly may include a cooling arrangement electrically connected with the battery, a pair of thermally conductive plates, and a semiconductor sandwiched between the plates, electrically connected with the battery, and configured to, in response to a temperature difference between the plates, generate a current for the battery. A photovoltaic generator may be electrically connected with the battery to increase electrical generation.

A vehicle may include a plurality of antennas each associated with a different radio frequency; and a modem including a radio-frequency transceiver and an antenna control processor configured to selectively connect a selected one or more of the plurality of antennas having a radio frequency matching at least one frequency associated with a desired service provider to the transceiver. The vehicle may also determine whether a service-provider-recommended alternate frequency is available, responsive to service provider signal strength being below a predefined signal strength; and if so, direct the modem to switch to an antenna associated with the alternate frequency, and otherwise, cycle to a next available antenna frequency.

Service provider adaptive vehicle antenna

An antenna device has an antenna main body, a fixing member and a bolt. The antenna main body comprises an antenna element, female connectors provided at a first connector, a female screw section, and an engagement claw inserted into an antenna mount hole to make engagement with a lower side face of a roof panel. A fixing member comprises cables, male connectors provided at a second connector, the male connectors being provided to make mechanical engagement with female connectors without an electrical connection, and being connected to the cable, and a male screw section helically fitted to a female screw section, thereby tightening the female connectors, the male connectors, and a roof panel with one another. A bolt may be mounted between the male and female connectors to allow electrical connection therebetween.

An automotive vehicle rear view mirror assembly automatically returnable from a rear seat viewing position to a rear window viewing position includes a bracket, a bracket rod having an axis and extending through and rigidly connected to the bracket, a resilient member disposed about the bracket rod and having an end, a mirror housing pivotally connected to the bracket rod, the housing having a wall portion in resilient contacting relationship with the end, and a flip lever attached to the mirror housing having a bracket receiving end with a bracket contacting surface.

A remote controlled anti-theft system for transportation vehicles allows the user to easily determine at will if a faulty door position sensor or an open door will inhibit proper operation of the anti-theft system by pressing the lock button on the remote transmitter in a predetermined sequence. A first lock code from the remote transmitter initiates a locking and arming sequence of the anti-theft system. A second lock code received within a predetermined time of the first lock code causes an audible verification to be produced identifying whether the anti-theft system is successfully arming or whether a door ajar or faulty door sensor is preventing the anti-theft system from arming.
