A supplemental device for attachment to an injection device, the supplemental device having a housing containing at least two electromechanical switches each having an open state and a closed state and a protrusion associated with each switch configured to protrude from the housing so as to contact a rotatable surface of the injection device while the supplemental device is attached to the injection device; and a processor arrangement configured to detect a change in the state of each of the switches; and to determine a direction of rotation of the rotatable surface of the injection device from the detected state changes.

The present disclosure concerns a drive mechanism for a drug delivery device, having a first and a second state and comprising a piston rod configured to be moved in a distal direction when the drive mechanism is operated and an adjusting member, wherein the adjusting member is rotatable relative to a body of the drug delivery device in the first state of the drive mechanism and is prevented from rotating relative to the body in the second state of the drive mechanism, and wherein the adjusting member is configured to adjust an axial position of the piston rod in the first state of the drive mechanism.

The piston rod arrangement is in an assembled state before use and comprises a piston rod, a bung, which is intended to be driven by the piston rod, a body member, and a drive member. The piston rod is threadedly engaged with the body member, and the drive member is threadedly engaged with the piston rod and movable relative to the body member. A mechanism is provided defining unit steps of movement of the drive member and corresponding unit steps of movement of the piston rod. The piston rod is arranged in contact with the bung or at a distance from the bung that is less than a distance of one corresponding unit step of movement. When the piston rod, the bung and the drive member are assembled in the body member, the piston rod is advanced with respect to the body member towards the bung, until the piston rod is stopped by the bung. The drive member is rotated until the piston rod begins to advance again and the drive member is then stopped, and the piston rod is fixed at or near the position obtained.

A drug delivery device comprises a body component located concentrically within a sleeve, wherein the body component comprises body component thread features and the sleeve comprises sleeve thread features that engage with the body component thread features such that the body component is caused to rotate within the sleeve as the body component and the sleeve component move axially with respect to one another by force of an engaging face of the sleeve thread features against an engaging face of the body component thread features causing sliding of the engaging face of the sleeve thread features over the engaging face of the body component thread features. One of the body component and the sleeve constitutes a first part and the other of the body component and the sleeve constitutes a second part. A conductive track pattern is formed on the thread features of the first part and plural contacts are formed on the second part such as to contact the conductive track pattern as the body component rotates within the sleeve.
