Systems, apparatus and methods for crowdsourcing measurements of wireless base stations, access points and/or other transmitters from a mobile device to a server are presented. A crowdsourcing request sent by a server to a mobile device may comprise control parameters and measurement parameters. Control parameters may determine when a mobile obtains and reports measurements and measurement parameters may determine which types of measurements a mobile device obtains. Control parameters may comprise trigger parameters for crowdsourcing activation, measurement, reporting and duration. Crowdsourcing may be instigated by a control server and reported to a different data server. Crowdsourcing may be anonymous and may comprise basic or advanced reporting.

Techniques and methods for controlling crowdsourcing from a mobile device

Method and system for providing information of an access point database are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method of providing information of an access point database comprises receiving a request to access an access point database from a mobile client, generating a segment of the access point database in accordance with at least an application requirement of the mobile client, and providing the segment of the access point database to the mobile client. The application requirement of the mobile client comprises precision level requested by the mobile client, and cache level of the mobile client. The method of generating a segment of the access point database comprises at least one of: generating the segment of the access point database in real-time, and providing the segment of the access point database previously generated and stored in the access point database.

A method includes: identifying a target network cell; obtaining at least one parameter value indicative of an operating environment of the target network cell; determining a maximum antenna range (MAR) associated with the target network cell based on the at least one parameter value; and applying the MAR to the target network cell.

Techniques for publishing location information associated with a non-geotagged transceiver are disclosed. A method for publishing a position of a non-geotagged transceiver in a wireless communication system includes determining a first position of the non-geotagged transceiver based on a periodic neighbor list, determining a second position of the non-geotagged transceiver based on an accumulated neighbor list, determining if the first position and the second position agree, publishing a third position if the first position and the second position agree, such that the third position is determined based on the union of the periodic neighbor list and the accumulated neighbor list, and resetting the accumulated neighbor list if the first and second position do not agree.
