An additive manufacturing apparatus includes: a build table, at least a portion of which is transparent, the build table defining a build surface; a material applicator operable to deposit a radio-energy-curable resin on the build surface; a stage positioned facing the build surface of the build table and configured to hold a one or more cured layers of the resin; one or more actuators operable to change the relative positions of the build table and the stage; a radiant energy apparatus positioned adjacent to the build table opposite to the stage, and operable to generate and project radiant energy on the resin through the build table in a predetermined pattern; a drive mechanism operable to move the build table so as to expose a new portion thereof for each layer; and material remover operable to remove remnants from the build surface. A method for using the apparatus is provided.

An additive manufacturing apparatus includes: a build module comprising a build chamber, and a least one of but less than all of the following elements: (a) a directed energy source; (b) a powder supply; (c) a powder recovery container; and (d) a powder applicator; and a workstation comprising the remainder of elements (a)-(d) not included in the build module.

Apparatus and methods for production additive manufacturing

A method of making a part includes the steps of: securing a build platform to an actuator which is disposed in a build chamber, depositing a powder onto the build platform; directing a beam from a directed energy source to fuse the powder; moving the actuator vertically downward within the build chamber by a layer increment of powder; repeating in a cycle the steps of depositing, directing, and moving to build up the part in a layer-by-layer fashion until the part is complete; lifting the build platform away from the actuator to create an opening therebetween; and evacuating the powder from the build chamber through the opening.

Additive manufacturing apparatus and method

A valve assembly includes a body including an inlet port, an outlet port, and a flow passage extending therebetween. The flow passage includes a plurality of valve seats in a stepped arrangement between the inlet port and the outlet port. The valve assembly further includes a valve stem positioned within the flow passage. The valve stem includes at least one shaft and a poppet disk positioned at one end of the at least one shaft, and at least one reed petal coupled to the at least one shaft. The poppet disk is engageable with a first valve seat of the plurality of valve seats, and the at least one reed petal is engageable with a second valve seat of the plurality of valve seats.

An aft heat shield for a fuel nozzle tip includes: an annular shield wall; an annular shield flange extending radially outward from an aft end of the shield wall; an annular baffle flange surrounding the conical section, and disposed such that an axial gap is defined between the shield flange and the baffle flange, the baffle flange including a radially outer rim extending axially forward therefrom; and a plurality of impingement cooling holes passing through the baffle flange and oriented to as to direct air flow towards the shield wall.

An additive manufacturing machine includes a heated gas circulation system for regulating the temperature of additive powder throughout an annular powder bed and parts formed therein. The additive manufacturing machine includes an annular build platform defining a plurality of perforations and a heated gas supply that provides a flow of heated air through the plurality of perforations and the powder bed. The additive manufacturing machine further includes a plurality of fairings for guiding the flow of heated gas to temperature sensitive regions to minimize temperature gradients within the powder bed which might otherwise result in distortion, thermal stresses, or cracking in the finished part.

An additive manufacturing machine includes a heated gas circulation system for regulating the temperature of additive powder throughout a powder bed and parts formed therein. The additive manufacturing machine includes a build platform defining a plurality of perforations and a heated gas supply that provides a flow of heated air into a distribution manifold and through the plurality of perforations and the powder bed to minimize temperature gradients within the powder bed which might otherwise result in distortion, thermal stresses, or cracking in the finished part.

An additive manufacturing apparatus includes: a table defining a planar worksurface having an opening therein, the opening communicating with a build enclosure having a vertically slidable build platform therein; and a first slide having a first powder transfer window therein, the first slide being moveable across the worksurface between a loading position away from the opening where the first powder transfer window is exposed to receive powder, and a supply position where the first powder transfer window is aligned over the opening.

A fuel nozzle apparatus has a centerline axis, and includes: a main fuel injector including an enclosed interior volume in fluid communication with a plurality of fuel ports configured to discharge fuel therefrom; a main fuel conduit disposed upstream of the main fuel injector and configured to supply liquid fuel to the interior volume; and a fluid lock disposed between the main fuel conduit and the main fuel injector, the fluid lock including a plurality of parallel capillary channels.

A fuel nozzle for dispensing an atomized fluid spray into the combustion chamber of a gas turbine engine. The nozzle includes a body assembly with an inner fuel passage and an annular outer atomizing air passage. An array of turning vanes is disposed within the outer fuel passage. Each of the vanes is configured generally in the shape of an airfoil in having a pressure side and an opposing suction side, the suction side of each vane being spaced-apart from a juxtaposing pressure side of an adjacent vane to define a corresponding one of a plurality of aligned air flow channels therebetween. Fuel is directed through the fuel flow channels to be issued from the nozzle as a generally helical flow having a substantial uniform velocity profile.
