A composition for forming a release coating is disclosed. The composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane comprising the reaction product of: (i) a silicone resin having a particular formula; (ii) a cyclic siloxane; and (iii) (iii) at least one of (A)(iii)(a) a branched organopolysiloxane having a particular formula or (A)(iii)(b) a terminating agent; in the presence of a polymerization catalyst. The composition further comprises (B) an organopolysiloxane including an average of at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule.

Composition for preparing a release coating

A composition for forming a release coating is disclosed. The composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane comprising the reaction product of: (i) a silicone resin having a particular formula; and (ii) a cyclic siloxane; in the presence of a polymerization catalyst. The composition further comprises (B) an organopolysiloxane including an average of at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule.

A polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane and method for its preparation using a boron containing Lewis acid as catalyst is disclosed. A clustered functional organosiloxane may be prepared by a method comprising functionalizing the polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane. The polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane and the clustered functional organosiloxane are useful in curable compositions. The polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane may be used in a release coating composition. The clustered functional organosiloxane may be used in an adhesive composition.

Polyfunctional organosiloxanes, compositions containing same, and methods for the preparation thereof

A polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane is prepared using a boron containing Lewis acid as catalyst. The polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane may be formulated into release coating compositions. Alternatively, the polyfunctional organohydrogensiloxane may be further functionalized with a curable group to form a clustered functional organosiloxane. The clustered functional organosiloxane may be formulated into thermal radical cure adhesive compositions.

Methods for making polyfunctional organosiloxanes and compositions containing same

Polyorganosiloxanes and methods for their preparation are disclosed. The polyorganosiloxanes are useful in curable compositions. The polyorganosiloxanes may have up to 9 silicon bonded hydrogen atoms, or other curable groups, per molecule.

A curable polysiloxane release coating composition comprises (A) an organopolysiloxane containing at least two (2) ethylenically unsaturated groups, (B) an organopolysiloxane containing at least 2 Si&#x2014;H groups per molecule, and (C) a hydrosilylation catalyst. If the organopolysiloxane (A) contains only 2 ethylenically unsaturated groups, the organopolysiloxane (B) contains on average more than 2 Si&#x2014;H groups per molecule. The composition further comprises (D1) a hydrosilylation inhibitor comprising a maleimide of the general formula (I). In formula (I), A3? represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms, and A1? and A2? each represent a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbyl or substituted hydrocarbyl group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms. The composition yet further comprises (D2) a second hydrosilylation inhibitor selected from acetylenic compounds, ethylenically unsaturated isocyanates, acetylenically unsaturated silanes and unsaturated dicarboxylic acid diesters or a maleate compound or a mixture thereof. 

Silicone release coating compositions

A composition for forming a release coating is disclosed. The composition comprises (A) the reaction product of (1) a branched organopolysiloxane including M, D and Q siloxy units and an average of at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule; and (2) an organosilicon compound having an average of at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst. The composition further comprises (B) an organopolysiloxane having an average of at least two silicon-bonded ethylenically unsaturated groups per molecule.

A method of preparing a composition for forming a release coating is disclosed. The method comprises preparing a reaction product comprising a polyorganohydrogensiloxane compound having cyclic SiH-functional branching groups interconnected by linear polydiorganosiloxane segments (the 'branched cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane compound'), by combining together (A) a hydroxyl terminated polydiorganosiloxane and (B) a cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane, in the presence of (C) a boron containing Lewis acid and a solvent. A release coating composition including the reaction product comprising the branched cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane is also disclosed. The reaction product may be combined with or prepared in the presence of a polyorganohydrogensiloxane diluent and stripped of solvent to prepare the composition as a blend of the branched cyclic polyorganohydrogensiloxane and the polyorganohydrogensiloxane diluent for use in solventless-curable compositions.

A release coating composition is prepared comprising a polyorganosiloxane (A) having alkenyl groups, a crosslinking agent (B) having organohydrogensiloxane groups, a catalyst for the hydrosilylation reaction between (A) and (B), and an anchorage additive for enhancing the adhesion of the composition to a polymer film substrate. The anchorage additive is the reaction product of a fluid polyorganosiloxane (C) containing at least one alkenyl group and at least one silanol group with a hydrolysable silane (D) containing at least one epoxide group. The curable silicone release coating composition can be applied to a substrate known as a 'liner' retaining a label, which liner can for example be paper or a polymer film, and cured.
