Some embodiments are directed to a sensor control device () for a connected lighting system (), said connected lighting system comprising multiple luminaires () arranged in a region, the sensor control device obtaining from received sensor data the occupant locations in sub-regions associated with the sensor data and/or multiple illuminance levels for multiple points in the sub-region, and defines a virtual sensor at a virtual sensor location. The occupancy state and/or illuminance level from the virtual sensor are used to control a luminaire of the multiple luminaires, the luminaire covering the virtual sensor location in the region.

Sensor control device

A verification device to detect malfunction in a connected lighting system, the connected lighting system comprising multiple luminaires and multiple occupancy sensors, the verification device comprising: &#x2014;an input interface () arranged to connect to a database and obtain the sensor data obtained from the multiple occupancy sensors, &#x2014;an aggregation unit () arranged to compute occupancy values which are indicative of occupancy over a specified time period at different hierarchical levels by applying a statistical measure, and &#x2014;a processing unit () arranged to compare an occupancy value at a lower hierarchical level with an occupancy value at a higher hierarchical level, finding deviations that indicate a malfunction in the connected lighting system and producing a signal to communicate the malfunction.

Verification device for a connected lighting system

An energy measurement system for a lighting system is disclosed. The lighting system may comprise multiple lighting units arranged in multiple lighting zones, multiple sensors associated with the lighting zones, and an energy measurement device. The lighting system may be arranged to switch on a lighting zone depending on at least a sensor associated with the lighting zone. Power-on energy uses of the multiple lighting zones associated with the multiple sensors is obtained from sensor data from the multiple sensors, and energy use data from the energy measurement device, the energy use data indicating an aggregated energy use of the multiple lighting zones at different times, and a processor circuit.

Energy measurement for a lighting system

The present invention relates to a method of detecting a failed luminaire and/or light sensor in a lighting system comprising M luminaires and N light sensors. The present invention further relates to a failure detection system for detecting a failed luminaire and/or light sensor.

Failure detection in lighting system

Presence adaptive lighting control strategies are known to be very effective in reducing energy consumption in buildings. Ultrasonic array sensors have been proposed for reliable presence sensing. Systems and methods are disclosed by which additional sensing functionalities may be enabled for providing new control functions, with the array sensor as basic sensing platform. In particular, hybrid sensing that combines portable sensors (possibly, user enabled) and fixed-infrastructure sensors is considered. Applications are, for example, active presence sensors in lighting control applications.

Control of lighting devices

A control unit () for controlling luminance in a space (), wherein the control unit is configured to estimate a three-dimensional location of at least one target () as a function of time, and control the luminance in the space based on the estimated three-dimensional location of the at least one target.

Control unit and method for lighting control

A network of active sensors in a control system is considered. The active sensors, which may be fixed-infrastructure sensors, provide presence detection information to a distributed lighting system. The active sensors communicate by transmitting probe signals. The communication of probe signals may result in cross-interference which may vary in time. Cross-interference is detected, and can later be avoided, by determining a difference between signals received in a first part of a timeslot and signals received in a second part of the timeslot. In order to do so probe signals comprising two non-zero pulses are transmitted in respective parts of the timeslot. Applications are, for example, active presence sensors in lighting control applications in indoor as well as outdoor environments.
