A system, device and method facilitate accurate detection of gunshot events through spectrum analysis of impulse signals and/or evaluating impulse signal exponential decay amplitude and time values. In various embodiments, the device and system employ an acoustic sensor, one or more high-pass and low-pass filters, a threshold detector, a differentiator, a decay waveform shape generator, one or more comparators and one or more timers to facilitate detection of gunshot events and/or components of gunshot events.

Presented is a system and method for monitoring events derived from a computer target application presentation layer including the steps of providing, independent of recompiling the target application's source code, a script running at a level within the target application. The script scans run-time instantiations of objects of the target application, and allocates structures in real-time to the object instantiations. These allocated structures are adapted to create a reflection of the target application structure, which is used along with detected object instantiations that match a predetermined object structure to capture a portion of an environmental spectrum of the detected object. A railroad signal system interlocking is automatically tested. A control point interface corresponding to a predetermined function of the interlocking has an isolated section and a control section. The isolated section is connected with the interlocking and has a normal, inactivated state during operation of the interlocking, and an activated state for testing the interlocking by detecting an electrical characteristic representing the status of the predetermined function executed by the interlocking. The control section drives the isolated section to its activated state and receiving an output from the isolated section in response to the detected electrical characteristic, and delivers a status report.

An operating knob device has: a position detection portion for detecting a position of a set numerical value of an object to be set; an operating portion for changing and operating the set numerical value; a drive portion for driving the operating portion; and a control portion for controlling the drive portion on the basis of a detection result of the position detection portion. The control portion includes: a first position calculation portion for calculating a first set numerical value that is a current set numerical value of the object to be set, on the basis of the detection result of the position detection portion; a second position calculation portion for calculating one or a plurality of second set numerical values that are set numerical values before change of the object to be set, on the basis of the detection result of the position detection portion; and a drive control portion for controlling the drive portion to be driven and changing and controlling a drive parameter of the drive portion when an absolute value of a difference between the first set numerical value and at least one of second set numerical values falls within an allowable range. Thus, the operator may reset the position of the operating portion only in accordance with a finger feel without visually confirming the position.
