A method for securing a fiber optic component includes: providing a holding medium having a tack and mounted on a substrate; and placing the fiber optic component in intimate contact with the holding medium to thereby secure the fiber optic component to the substrate. The tack of the holding medium releasably bonds the fiber optic component to the holding medium and the holding medium retains its tack upon removal of the fiber optic component to permit re-placement of the fiber optic component or placement of a further fiber optic component on the holding medium to secure said fiber optic component or further fiber optic component to the substrate.

An apparatus for use in a fiber optic network includes a furcation tube having a first end and a second end. An optical fiber passes through the furcation tube, the optical fiber having an end portion that extends outwardly beyond the second end of the furcation tube. A heat-recoverable tube fixes the optical fiber relative to the furcation tube adjacent the second end of the furcation tube, the heat-recoverable tube having a first portion affixed to the furcation tube and a second portion affixed to the end portion of the optical fiber.

A sealing assembly for forming a seal about an elongate object includes a resilient seal member and a loading mechanism. The resilient seal member includes an inner wall surface defining a channel to receive the elongate object. The seal member has first and second opposed sides. The loading mechanism includes a first pressure member on the first side of the seal member; a second pressure member on the second side of the seal member; a biasing member on the second side of the seal member and interposed between the seal member and the second pressure member; and an adjustable displacement mechanism accessible and operable from the first side of the seal member to displace the first and second pressure members relative to one another to selectively apply a compressive load to the seal member such that the inner wall surface is expanded inwardly to exert a sealing pressure on the elongate object.

Optical fiber fanout devices include a housing having a fiber telescoping cavity therein. An optical fiber tubing receiving opening in the housing extends to the fiber telescoping cavity. The optical fiber tubing receiving opening is configured to secure a plurality of optical fiber tubes therein. An optical fiber receiving opening in the housing also extends to the cavity. The optical fiber receiving opening is displaced from the optical fiber tubing receiving opening by a distance selected to define an arc for an optical fiber extending from the optical fiber receiving opening to the optical fiber tubing receiving opening that exceeds a minimum bend radius for the optical fiber.

A sealant-filled connector assembly for use with a connector plug includes a connector housing including a unitary body portion defining a body cavity and at least one conductor passage extending through the unitary body portion and communicating with the body cavity. The connector housing defines a connector opening communicating with the body cavity. The connector opening is adapted to receive the connector plug. An electrical conductor extends through the at least one conductor passage and has a contact portion disposed in the body cavity. An environmental sealant is disposed in the body cavity up to a sealant fill level and at least partially covering each the contact portion. The unitary body portion is devoid of openings other than the at least one conductor passage up to at least the sealant fill level.

A splicing enclosure is comprised of a base portion and a lid portion, with a grounding contact positioned in both halves. The grounding contacts include a plurality of grounding contact portions to receive shielded cable in a transverse relation thereto. The enclosure is provided with a removable ferrule, which can be slidably received between the shielding and inner sheath of a shielded cable to enhance the strain relief on the cable between the cable and the grounding contact. The grounding contact is designed so as to accommodate a plurality of shielded cable configurations. The enclosure is also provided with a progressive latch, which cooperates upon rotation of the lid relative to its base portion to take off the load from the integrated hinge to prevent breakage of the hinge.

An electrical connector housing is shown which is profiled for use as a splicing enclosure for telephone cable. The enclosure is adapted to accommodate two different sized cables, two 2-twisted pair cable or two 6-twisted pair cable. Two separate strain relief devices are provided for gripping retention of the two cables. The enclosure is embodied as a bi-partite housing having two hinged housing halves which can be folded over to form the enclosure. The two separate strain relief members are located at opposed positions within different housing halves, and include a plurality of gripping edges formed to grip and retain the cables.
