A processor of a vehicle is programmed to send a message to a mobile device connected to the processor to request an application permissions update for the vehicle from a remote server, responsive to the vehicle lacking application permissions for a vehicle-enabled mobile application executed by a mobile device. The processor is further programmed to receive, from the server, the application permissions update including both the application permissions and a diagnostic request to receive data from the vehicle.

Cloud-based connectivity energy budget manager

A lighting system of a vehicle is provided herein. A projector is coupled to a side structure of the vehicle. A sensor detects a remote device carried on a person approaching the vehicle. Based on a detected location of the remote device relative to the vehicle, the projector projects a light pattern onto a ground surface to define an illuminated path leading up to the vehicle and pointing towards the person.

A method for pairing elements of a first set of elements {x(i)} with elements from a second set of elements {y(j)} subject to a plurality of pairing restrictions. In accordance with one embodiment of the method, for each of a plurality of iterations of the method, or until a set of pairings is found that satisfies the plurality of pairing restrictions, a random set of pairings between elements of the second set of elements and elements of the second set of elements is selected. The set of mismatched pairings is identified and, if the number of pairings in the set of mismatched pairings is not greater than a maximum number, pairings in the set of mismatched pairings are interchanged. If the number of pairings in the set of mismatched pairings is greater than one, each mismatched pairing is swapped with another pairing if the resulting pairings satisfy the plurality of pairing restrictions.

Method for assigning random pairings to data entries

A decorative device, known as a corbel, for mounting to walls adjacent windows, for example, to create a window treatment, has a mounting bracket therefor. The device is made of a material such as expanded polystyrene, and the mounting bracket has sharpened tangs which penetrate the body of the device and grip it. The device further has a slot in the top thereof into which a depending leg of the bracket fits. With the leg in the slot and the tangs penetrating into the body, the device is affixed to, and firmly held by, the bracket. The device itself may be covered with decorative material and support other decorative devices such as scarves, curtain rods, and drapes, for example.
