The rear side of a head unit bezel is shaped and arranged to receive and retain an electronic device such as a radio, cell phone, GPS receiver, roadway toll payment transponder, stolen vehicle transponder, WI-FI or Bluetooth transceiver or an antenna. Electrical connectors provided to the rear side mate with connectors on the front side of a head unit. When the bezel and head unit are connected, the electronic device in the bezel is mechanically and electrically connected to the head unit.

A driver assistance detection system and method for determining levels of functionality of an interactive device in a vehicle are provided. The driver assistance detection system comprises a vision-based detection device, a processing device, and an interactive device. The vision-based detection device is configured to visually detect objects, recognize whether the object is an object of interest, and then obtain data regarding a status of the object. The processing device is configured to receive data from the vision-based detection device, run a set of instructions and switch the interactive device between a first mode and a second mode. The interactive device is configured to have at least two modes, wherein the second mode has reduced functionality relative to the first mode.

An electrically-conductive housing is configured to support a patch antenna and to enclose or cover electronic components mounted onto a circuit board to which the housing is attached. The housing is formed to have a grounded passageway for a feed line for the patch antenna. The passageway thus acts as a RF shield. An optional ferrule can be placed into the shield to align the feed line. An optional feed line contact can be placed into the ferrule to allow for the housing construct to behave as an RF connector.

The present disclosure provides an apparatus () that can include a first housing () and a second housing () rotationally coupled to the first housing where the second housing rotates with respect to the first housing about an axis of rotation (). The apparatus can also include an optical transmitter () coupled to the first housing where the optical transmitter can be configured to transmit light. The apparatus can further include a lightguide () including a first lightguide end () substantially at the axis of rotation where the lightguide can include a second lightguide end () located at a distance from the axis of rotation where the second lightguide end is optically coupled to the optical transmitter. The apparatus can additionally include an optical receiver () coupled to the second housing at the axis of rotation where the optical receiver can also be optically coupled to the lightguide at the first lightguide end.

The shaft may further include at least a plurality of second conductive contacts, at least some of which that form portions of rings to make intermittent contact with at least one of the first conductive contacts based on the position of the at least one shaft relative to the position of at least one of the two mating sleeves. Embodiments of the connector may include a jack style hinge configuration, a hinge and pin style configuration, a hinge without a pin style configuration, or a spring loaded bolt configuration.
