An eNodeB uses a first portion of a frequency spectrum as a primary cell and uses a second portion of the frequency spectrum as a secondary cell that is dynamically shared with a 5G base station. The eNodeB and the 5G base station communicate to dynamically share the second portion of the frequency spectrum.

Dynamic spectrum partitioning between a first radio access technology and a second radio access technology

A method includes initiating, by an agent application of an access point, a communication connection to a self-organizing network controller via a particular communication path to the self-organizing network controller. The particular communication path is identified in a prioritized set of communication paths to the self-organizing network controller. The method includes receiving, at the access point, control data from the self-organizing network controller via the particular communication path. The control data includes an instruction for a station, the station in communication with the access point via a wireless local area network supported by the access point. The method also includes sending the instruction to the station from the access point via the wireless local area network. The instruction is executable by the station to cause the station to modify a data transmission rate of the station.

Self-organizing network communication

Wireless transition timers associated with wireless transition states are adaptively controlled in relation to use of applications by user equipment (UE). A UE can include a transition management component (TMC) that can adaptively control wireless transition timers associated with wireless states based on application type, session content, or other factors. The TMC monitors data flow associated with an application and, for a current or subsequent communication session, controls the length of wireless transition timers and switching between wireless states to improve UE, application, and/or network performance while maintaining QOE for the user. The TMC can access a timer look-up table that maps wireless transition timers to application type, content type, user behavior, or other factors. The TMC also can desirably control maintaining persistence or always-on connections by controlling switching between wireless states using the adapted wireless transition timers.

A method includes determining, at an access point, that a channel used to communicate with a device is experiencing interference. The method also includes, in response to the access point detecting that the channel used to communicate with the device is experiencing interference, switching, at the access point to a second channel. The second channel is selected from available channels associated with a set of candidate frequency bands. The set of candidate frequency bands is selected based on a signal quality of a particular device in communication with the access point. The particular device is a communication device in communication with the access point that has a lowest signal quality of signal qualities of communication devices in communication with the access point.

A network operating system agent can operate to facilitate communications to a network device and a managing server of self-organizing network devices to exchange contexts between an application managed by a user equipment device and the network device. Relationships between self-organizing devices and applications of a user equipment device can be extended so that the network devices are context aware of the application settings. In response to detecting the user equipment device communicating via the network devices, a set of user equipment device parameters and a set of application settings of the application can be communicated to the network devices. The application settings can be modified according to the a set of radio network performance settings of the self-organizing network devices with the user equipment device based on the set of user equipment device parameters and the set of application settings of the application.

Any purchased digital content is either transferred wirelessly onto the portable device or, optionally, sent on a storage medium to a physical address associated with the profile.
