A telemetry head for communication with an implantable medical device comprises a telemetry antenna and a shield substantially surrounding at least a portion of the antenna, the shield having a coating comprising a ferromagnetic material applied to at least a portion of the shield, wherein the coating is configured to shield at least the portion of the telemetry antenna from electromagnetic interference fields while permitting telemetry signals to pass through the coating.

An electroluminescent display includes thin conductive strips on a phosphor-deposited area. One aspect of the invention is directed to a device including a dielectric carrier supporting a first conductive bus connecting to first conductors and a second conductive bus connecting to second conductors. The first and second conductors are arranged in close proximity to one another, so that a phosphor-based carrier can be located therebetween to permit an electric field set up by a voltage applied between the first and second conductors to generate light via the phosphors. A dielectric layer disposed between the conductors enhances the brightness of the light generated. The electroluminescent display can be incorporated as part of a mirror or liquid crystal device.

Display device and method therefor

An electroluminescent display includes thin conductive strips on a phosphor-deposited area. One aspect of the invention is directed to a device including a dielectric carrier supporting a first conductive bus connecting to first conductors and a second conductive bus connecting to second conductors. The first and second conductors are arranged in close proximity to one another, so that a phosphor-based carrier can be located therebetween and thereover to permit an electric field set up by a voltage applied between the first and second conductors to generate light via the phosphor. The device can be incorporated into a circuit board, integrated circuit or other contoured parts.

A system characterizes tissue using fluorescence spectroscopy, such as light-induced fluorescence. Native fluorescence (&ldquo;autofluorescence&rdquo;) from endogenous tissue without requiring fluorescence-enhancing agents is used to distinguish between normal tissue, hyperplastic tissue, adenomatous tissue, and adenocarcinomas. The system provides endoscopic image enhancement for easy location of a tissue site for optical biopsy tissue characterization. The system allows the use of an integrated endoscopic diagnosis and treatment device for immediate diagnosis and treatment without interchanging equipment and relocating the tissue site. The system is also integrated with existing endoscopy equipment for initiating and displaying the diagnosis. The system provides an adjunctive tool to histopathological tissue classification or, alternatively, further treatment is based on the optical biopsy system diagnosis itself.
