A fuseblock is compact, and electrically conductive components of the fuseblock do not extend beyond a length of a fuse in the fuseblock. The fuseblock can be assembled easily and quickly without tools, and can be easily configured in different ways using the same components. The fuseblock can be snapped onto a mounting rail using mounting projections that are integral with the fuseblock. The fuseblock can include wire end connectors that each have two or more openings for receiving wire ends. The fuseblock also effectively conceals live electrical contacts from accidental touch when the fuseblock is closed and operational, and also when the fuseblock is opened to replace or inspect the fuse, thereby preventing a person servicing the fuseblock from accidentally receiving an electrical shock.

An overcurrent protection module includes a base unit and a removable fuse holder. The base unit is mountable on a panel or a DIN rail so that a containing space for the fuse holder stands perpendicular to a plane of the panel or the DIN rail, and in line with a conventional wiring orientation. The fuse holder includes at least three fuse slots arranged in a single plane, so that in a position inserted in the base unit, the fuse slots are perpendicular to the plane of the panel or DIN rail. Line terminals are singularly located on a first side wall of the base unit and load terminals are singularly located on a second side wall, opposite to the first side wall. The overcurrent protection module according to the invention is simpler to mount and requires less surface mounting space than a conventional fuse block. The overcurrent protection module also provides protection from shock hazard by shielding an operator from contact with live terminals or fuses.

A fused disconnect device constructed according to the present invention comprises a housing, a line side terminal, a load side terminal, a protection fuse holder assembly removably installed in a cavity of said housing, and a separate alarm fuse removably installed in said housing. The alarm fuse may remain installed in the housing regardless of the presence of the protection fuse holder assembly, so that an alarm will be generated whenever the inventive device has interrupted power to the load. In a first embodiment of the invention, the disconnect device is adapted for front-access mounting in a power distribution panel. In a second embodiment of the invention, the disconnect device is adapted for rear-access mounting in a power distribution panel. A third embodiment is adapted for use in higher-current applications.

A card-edge connector for connecting wiring to electronic circuit cards comprises a generally rectangular housing, one or more removable wire termination blocks, and a cover for retaining the wire termination blocks and for protecting the interior of the connector. A slit-like aperture for receiving a peripheral edge of one or more electronic circuit cards to which wire connections are desired is provided in a first external surface of the housing. The circuit card receptacle has a plurality of contact members for mechanically and electrically engaging contact pads located on the exterior surface of the circuit cards. The inventive connector also has one or more receptacles for receiving the removable wire termination blocks. These receptacles are preferably provided on a different side of the connector housing. Each of the removable wire termination blocks has a plurality of wire retaining terminals to which the external wiring is attached. These terminals are connected to contacts on the termination block which, in turn, mate with contacts in the connector's termination block receptacles. In use, wiring is installed on the termination blocks while the blocks are separated from the connector. The termination blocks are subsequently installed on the connector. The cover is then installed over the termination blocks to retain them in position, and to hold attached wiring in a desired configuration.

A holder for a removable plug-in circuit element is disclosed. The holder comprises an insulated base, an electrical bus member, and a plurality of terminal members which are formed from the same blank of metal as the metal bus member. The bus member comprises a plurality of branches joined to a common trunk with each branch having at its free end an integral terminal. Each terminal member has at one end an electrical terminal and, at an opposite end, an integral terminal which is aligned to the free end of one lateral branch. In one embodiment of the invention, the holder includes an insulated cover which is carried by the base and which has a plurality of apertures which aligned to the terminals of each branch so as to receive the ends of a removable plug-in circuit element therein.

A holder and method of forming a holder for a removable plug-in circuit element is disclosed. The fuse holder comprises an insulated base, an electrical bus member, and a plurality of terminal members which are formed from the same blank of metal as the metal bus member and which were separated from each other after that blank was mounted on the insulated base. The bus member comprises a plurality of branches joined to a common trunk with each branch having at its free end an integral terminal. Each terminal member has at one end an electrical terminal and, at an opposite end, an integral terminal which is aligned to the free end of one lateral branch. In one embodiment of the invention, the holder includes an insulated cover which is carried by the base and which has a plurality of apertures which aligned to the terminals of each branch so as to receive the ends of a removable plug-in circuit element therein.
