An apparatus may include a regulated power converter, a control engine configured to control the regulated power converter based upon a regulation control parameter, a period detection system and a parameter control system. The period detection system may be configured to monitor a signal to detect transient events at an output of the regulated power converter, wherein the transient events include a first transient event and a second transient event after the first transient event. The period detection system may be configured to determine, in response to the second transient event, a transient event period between the first transient event and the second transient event. The period detection system may be configured to determine transient event period information based upon the transient event period. The parameter control system may be configured to set the regulation control parameter to a value determined based upon the transient event period information.

Method and apparatus for period detection-based control of regulation control parameter

An apparatus includes processing hardware, storage hardware, and serial communication hardware. The processing hardware receives selection of a serial communication protocol. The serial communication protocol is selected amongst multiple serial communication protocols to control operation of a power converter. Via the processing hardware or other suitable entity, the storage hardware is populated with a set of command decode functions (a.k.a., command descriptors) assigned to the selected serial communication protocol. During operation, the serial communication hardware receives commands over a serial communication interface and executes the received commands via the set of command decode functions in the storage hardware. Each of the multiple commands communicated over the serial communication interface is encoded in accordance with the selected serial communication protocol. The serial communication hardware uses the set of command decode functions to execute the received commands.

Flexible high speed interface implementation in a power supply

An apparatus includes a soft start manager such as implemented via hardware, software, or a combination of hardware and software. The soft start manager receives input parameter from a power supply; the input parameter (such as output voltage, duty cycle, input voltage, etc.) is associated with conversion of the input voltage into an output voltage that powers a load. The soft start manager monitors a magnitude of the input parameter. Based at least in part on the magnitude of the input parameter, the soft start manager controls a switching period applied to switch circuitry in the power supply.

A highway guardrail system comprises a plurality of posts; a plurality of spacers attached to respective posts; and a rail attached to the spacers. The post comprises a tube formed from sheet material, including overlapping portions facing toward the highway when installed; and a plurality of connectors to join said overlapping portions together. The spacer comprises a member formed from sheet metal blank including a rail attachment portion, a post attachment portion and a bridge portion connecting said rail and post attachment portions. The rail attachment portions and the bridge portion form an acute angle in plan view; and the bridge portion is tapered from wide to narrow toward the post attachment portion. The rail is tubular formed from sheet metal, including a U-shaped member and a sheet metal plate both having overlapping portions; and a plurality of connectors to join said overlapping portions together.
