A print head includes a substrate having a hole, a circuit on the substrate, the circuit having traces and a hole corresponding to the hole in the substrate, the hole forming a fluid path, and a raised structure on the substrate around the fluid path, the raised structure positioned to seal the circuit from the fluid path.

A printhead including a printhead body and a filter assembly that is removably attached to the printhead body with one or more mechanical fasteners. The filter assembly can include at least a first plate, a second plate, and a filter interposed between the first plate and the second plate. The removable filter assembly can be used to filter a single fluid, such as a liquid ink or a gas, or two or more fluids, using one or more filters. The filter assembly can be removed from the printhead body and replaced with a new or different filter assembly.

An inkjet printing apparatus is provided with a one-way valve to enable a single conduit to supply ink to an ink reservoir and withdraw purged ink from a receptacle into the ink reservoir. A bi-directional pump is operated in both directions in an alternating manner to withdraw ink from the receptacle when supplying the ink reservoir with ink.

A fluid dispensing assembly has a fluid reservoir, a reservoir structure having at least one opening corresponding to a location of at least one fluid chamber in the reservoir structure, and a compliant film arranged to seal the opening and flex in response to pressure fluctuations in the fluid chamber. A system has a fluid supply, a fluid dispensing assembly having a fluid reservoir to receive fluid from the fluid supply, the fluid dispensing assembly having a reservoir structure with at least one opening corresponding to at least one fluid chamber, and a compliant film arranged to cover the opening such that a side of the film contacts fluid in the chamber and a side opposite the side contacting the fluid contacts air and is arranged to allow the film to flex.

An ink umbilical interface facilitates removal of the umbilical from a printhead while better preserving the integrity of the interface seal. The ink umbilical interface includes an ink umbilical connector having a plurality of conduits terminating within the connector and a tapered nozzle extending from each conduit in the plurality of conduits, each conduit communicating with a liquid ink reservoir, a backplate of a printhead having a plurality of openings, each opening being positioned to receive one of the tapered nozzles extending from the ink umbilical connector, and at least one sealing member positioned between the backplate and the ink umbilical connector, the sealing member having at least one opening to align with one of the backplate openings and receive one of the tapered nozzles.

A reservoir assembly for use in an imaging device, the reservoir assembly includes an ink input port configured to receive liquid ink from an ink source and an ink tank configured to receive ink from the input port. A filter is positioned between the input port and the ink tank configured to filter ink received via the input port prior to reaching the ink tank. The reservoir assembly includes a foam reducing path configured to guide ink that passes through the filter to the ink tank, the foam reducing path having a varying cross-sectional size and/or shape configured to collapse, compress, stretch, and/or shear air bubbles in foam that passes through the filter prior to reaching the ink tank.

A drip bib for use with a printhead of an imaging device includes a plate having an upper surface having an upper edge, an intermediate surface angled with respect to the upper surface, and a lower edge. The intermediate surface includes a plurality of fastener openings. The lower edge includes a drip point projecting from the lower edge with remaining portions of the lower edge being upturned and angled downwardly from at least one end of the lower edge toward the drip point. A plurality of protrusions protrudes from a back side of the upper surface. The protrusions in the plurality of protrusions are spaced from each other and proximate the upper edge.

A printhead reservoir has an input ink port and a chamber to receive ink from an ink source through the input ink port. The reservoir also has a filter in a path between the input ink port and the chamber. A printhead includes a reservoir having an input ink port, a chamber to receive ink from an ink source through the input port and a filter in a path between the input port and the storage plate. The printhead also includes an array of jets to draw ink from the chamber and control circuitry to control the jets so as to selectively output ink through the jets onto a substrate. A reservoir has a filter to receive ink, a vented chamber to collect ink received from the filter and at least one jet to receive ink from the vented chamber. The vented chamber is between the ink filter and the fluid path to the jets in order to remove the filter portion of the pressure drop to the jets.

A printhead is provided that includes a waste ink drip bib located adjacent to the lower edge of the printhead face and includes a funnel structure to direct the flow of waste ink to a centrally located lower opening.

A two-stage acceleration sensing apparatus is disclosed which has applications for use in a fuze assembly for a projected munition. The apparatus, which can be formed by bulk micromachining or LIGA, can sense acceleration components along two orthogonal directions to enable movement of a shuttle from an 'as-fabricated' position to a final position and locking of the shuttle in the final position. With the shuttle moved to the final position, the apparatus can perform one or more functions including completing an explosive train or an electrical switch closure, or allowing a light beam to be transmitted through the device.

A tuned mass damper includes a container having first and second inside wall portions, and a proof mass disposed within the container. Multiple pairs of oppositely directed bellows containing damping fluid are connected between the wall portions and the mass to permit motion of the mass along primary axes. A spring is connected in series with each pair of bellows. The spring has a diameter substantially less than a diameter of the corresponding pair of bellows so that the spring and bellows allow translational movement of the mass about an axis other than the primary axes.

A system for releasably restraining a first element and a second element is disclosed. The containment system uses a tensioner to urge a clamp into contact with the first element and with the second element, and a release selectively operates the tensioner to remove the clamp from contact with the first and second elements to permit relative movement therebetween. The clamp is particularly useful in maintaining a gap between the first and second elements which permits relative movement between the first and second elements after the clamp is removed.
