Once the time maintained by such a single GPS satellite vehicle has been obtained and processed, the control processor powers downs the GPS signal receiver device to a low power standby mode to wait for another user request to update time.

In a further preferred embodiment a reduced number of tufting elements is contemplated with the elements spaced so as to enable the production of a full sized tufted product by lateral shifting of the backing layer to provide for intermediate tufting positions.
