A textile applicator for application of a sanitizing and/or disinfecting solution to a surface. The applicator incorporates a plurality of direct spun polyester microfiber yarns to define a textile surface which does not bind or inactivate quaternary ammonium compounds, chlorine-based or peracetic and/or other peroxygen based sanitizing and/or disinfecting agents. Thus, the sanitizing and/or disinfecting agent is readily released to the surface being treated without any requirement of pre-loading surface binding sites or applying a charge-modifying surface treatment.

Cleaning compositions are disclosed that economically and effectively remove a variety of marking materials from many coated or uncoated substrate surfaces. The compositions contain a terpene compound, a pyrrolidone compound, an emulsifying surfactant, and water, the compositions being in the form of a microemulsion. Also disclosed are methods of cleaning marked surfaces with the microemulsion compositions.

Cleaning compositions and methods of using the same

A food-safe film for the pretreatment of a surface, preferably an oven or a broiler, which is liable to soiling by organic food deposits, especially baked-on food deposits. The film comprises a food-safe, inorganic thickening agent present in an amount sufficient so that, during application to the surface, the film forms a continuous coating adhered to all desired portions of the surface; an alkaline, food-safe, water-soluble inorganic salt in an amount sufficient so that the film is readily removable with water or an aqueous solution after it has been soiled; a food-safe silicone polymer present in an amount sufficient so that the film is transparant after drying and heating; and optionally can comprise a food-safe mineral oil present in an amount sufficient, in combination with the amount of the silicone polymer, so that the film remains transparent or translucent after drying and heating. The film is transparent or translucent after drying, preferably by heating, and remains continuous over all portions of the surface, including areas which may already be soiled with food deposits. After the film accumulates additional food soils, it remains substantially transparent. Finally, the soiled film can be readily removed by contact with water or an aqueous solution.

Oven pretreatment and cleaning film containing silicone

A method for cleaning a desired surface which is liable to soiling by organic food deposits by applying to the surface a food-safe composition containing a food-safe, inorganic thickening agent which is substantially insoluble in an alkaline aqueous composition and which is present in an mount sufficient so that the composition is capable of forming a continuous coating adhered to all desired portions of the surface; an alkaline, food-safe, water soluble inorganic salt in an mount sufficient so that the composition is readily removable with water or an aqueous solution after the composition has been dried and soiled; a food-safe silicone polymer of the formula (CH.sub.3).sub.3 SiO[SiO(CH.sub.3).sub.2 ].sub.n Si(CH.sub.3).sub.3, wherein n represents the number of polymer units needed to give the overall silicone polymer a minimum viscosity of 350 centistokes, which is present in an mount sufficient so that the continuous coating is transparent or translucent after the composition has been applied to the surface, dried and heated; and optionally a food-safe mineral oil, wherein, when the food-safe mineral oil is included in the food-safe composition, said mineral oil and the silicone polymer are present in a combined mount sufficient so that the composition is transparent or translucent after the composition has been applied to the surface, dried and heated. The method also contemplates drying the continuous coating to form a film, allowing the film to become soiled, and removing the soiled film with water or an aqueous solution.

A food-safe, inorganic thickening agent which is substantially insoluble in an alkaline aqueous composition and which is present in an amount sufficient so that, during application to the surface, the composition is capable of forming a continuous coating adhered to all desired portions of the surface, is combined with (1) an alkaline, food-safe, water-soluble inorganic salt in an amount sufficient so that the composition is readily removable with water or an aqueous solution after the composition has been dried and soiled, (2) a food-safe silicon polymer present in an amount sufficient so that the composition is transparent after it has been applied, dried, heated, and soiled, and optionally (3) a food-safe mineral oil present in an amount sufficient, in combination with the amount of the silicone polymer, so that the composition remains transparent or translucent after it has been applied, dried, heated, and soiled. The composition forms a transparent or translucent film after drying, preferably by heating, which remains continuous over all portions of the surface, including areas which may already be soiled with food deposits. After the film accumulates additional food soils, it remains substantially transparent. The soiled film can be readily removed by contact with water or an aqueous solution.
