A field dressing tool for big game animals and a method for using same is disclosed. The tool includes a tip portion, a plurality of barbs extending radially and rearwardly from the tip portion, a shank extending from a rear portion of the barbs, and the handle on the shank opposite the tip portion. A barrier member is provided between the tip portion and the handle, and is positioned in a spaced-apart relationship with the handle. Inserting the tip and barbs into the rectum causes radial stretching of the intestinal wall, and rotation of the tool causes ensnarement of the rectum on the barbs. The tool is retracted from the anus, pulling a section of rectum external to the animal to be closed to prevent leakage of bodily waste materials.

A system and method for generating game sounds in a directionally adjustable manner which includes a friction pan call of the type having a circular flat top playing surface and a plurality of holes on generally opposing sides of a substantially cylindrical sound chamber wall, and a method whereby holes or portion of a hole are successively closed in an incremental rotating manner around the call so as to help to create a sound emulating a moving sound source.

A vehicular 'black box' provides recording means by which driver action can be reviewed after an accident or collision, as well as indicating immediate vehicle disposition status to the driver. Using cameras (which may be very small), the disposition of the vehicle in its lane is determined by detecting the highway lines painted on the road. The data is also recorded so that should an accident or collision occur, the events leading up to such an event are made available for later review and analysis.

A method and apparatus for carrying, using and storing in the field various hunting supplies including a back pad and other material is disclosed. A vest with a padded back and sides containing pockets is worn by a hunter in to the woods. When the hunter arrives at a tree a tree belt is extended and secured around the tree and the vest is removed and hung from the belt. The padded back is positioned so that the hunter can lean against it while on stand. The sides of the vest are extended around the tree so that the pockets are easily reachable by the hunter while on stand. The tree belt is used for holding other hunting accessories as well.

Method of forming multi-purpose hunting apparel

A game call having a reed disposed inside of a longitudinal tube wherein the reed is manipulatable by a caller's finger. The caller's finger is in one embodiment depressed through and movable along an opening in the tube. The caller's finger is separated by either an inelastic member disposed on the exterior of the tube or an elastic member disposed within the tube. Or in another embodiment, the reed is encircled by a flexible tube of 360 degrees and the caller's fingers are capable of approaching the reed from any direction. In one embodiment, the caller's fingers are permitted to approach the reed in only a limited fashion through a series of relatively small finger-sized orifices disposed over predetermined points along the reed. In yet another embodiment, the caller's fingers are permitted to actually touch the reed without any flexible tube member or skin disposed between the caller's finger and the reed. Also shown is a call having a plunger and a reed contacting member coupled to it for changing the tone of the call by depressing the plunger. A slide adjusted call is also shown which includes slide coupled to reed contacting member.

Durable and easily operated game calling device

An improved turkey box call adapted to prevent the emission of inadvertent sounds which might otherwise alarm the prey. The call has a base and a pair of opposing standards, one with a post and the other with a camming surface with a pair of detents. The call includes a striker pivotally connected to the post, which is selectively adapted to interact individually or simultaneously with a pair of resonating panels such that sounds similar to those of tom and hen turkeys are cooperatively generated. The call also includes a cavity spaced between the pair of resonating panels, the striker, the pair of opposing standards, and the base. A separator, having a nub biased in sliding engagement with the camming surface, is adapted to space the striker apart from the pair of resonating panels as the nub is disposed in one of the detents and to allow the striker to interact with the pair of resonating panels as the nub is disposed in the other one of the detents.

An animal call device is assembled from at least two horseshoe-shaped frame members positioned and supported on opposite sides of one or more strips of pre-tensioned diaphragm material. The frame members have complementarily contoured facing surfaces, and one of the frame members has energy directing prongs adjacent corresponding apertures in the other of the frame members. Ultrasonic energy is applied to the pronged frame member. The prongs pierce the diaphragm material and contact the other frame member such that the ultrasonic energy melts the material of and about the prongs forming material joints through the diaphragm material. The joints combine with the contoured surfaces to retain the diaphragm material in place, even when several strips are assembled into the diaphragm. The manner of tensioning the diaphragm material includes a first longitudinal tensioning. Portions of the tensioned strip or strips are then clamped to a workframe and, prior to the assembly of the frame members, the diaphragm material is further stretched in a direction transverse to the first longitudinal tensioning. More than two frames may be assembled in a stack by first completing an assembly of two frames and then repeating the process by assembling an additional diaphragm and frame member to the already existing assembly. An outer cover may be added to the frame members to extend peripherally about the frames.

Animal call, and methods of and apparatus for making same

Small honeycombed devices, such as wafers, for hunting, trapping and other purposes are molded from plastic material impregnated with artificial simulations of natural scents or other scents such as insect repellants, attractants or insecticides, deodorants or deodorizers, or decorative and floral fragrances. Means may be included by which the devices can be removably stacked together to intensify a particular scent or to provide a combination of different scents and/or by which the devices can be suspended from a supporting object.

Molded scent impregnated devices

An optical device for displaying a large, two dimensional image is shown which utilizes a beam splitter having four faces upon which are mounted photosensor arrays. The photosensor arrays are mounted in a mosaic-like pattern upon each face with the pattern on one face differing from the pattern on the remaining three faces. Through this arranngement, standard photosensor arrays may be used to build a device that is capable of displaying a large image with no limitation on image side due to limitations on photosensor size.

A molded plastic adapter, simulating at its forward end the head, neck and upper breast portions of a duck, includes a rearwardly extending hollow keel such that an empty plastic two liter soft drink bottle can be secured atop the keel with the neck of the bottle located in the rear of the upper breast portion of the adapter, all to provide a light, inexpensive decoy for duck hunters.
