A dual release gun scope cover system for use with a gun scope having an eye piece end and a front objective lens end. The gun scope cover system has a cylindrical eye piece engagement mount with a lens cover and a cylindrical front end engagement mount with a lens cover. The lens covers are retained in closed position on the respective scope engagement mounts by magnetic attraction to a control action rod extending there between for simultaneous release and gun scope use.

The present invention provides a photoconductor element for use in electrophotographic imaging, including a support, a photoconductive layer coated on the support, and a barrier layer coated on the photoconductive layer. The barrier layer includes an organic polymer and silica.

The coating composition utilizes an inorganic metal oxide in combination with particular anionic surfactants. An antistatic adhesive article which comprises an adhesive layer and utilizes vanadium oxide to impart antistatic properties to the article. The article is preferably an adhesive tape or sheet. The adhesive may be pressure sensitive or non-pressure sensitive. The vanadium oxide may be incorporated into or onto the tape from an aqueous dispersion.

A thermal transfer system for transferring material in an imagewise manner by means of thermal transfer printing from a donor element to an image receiving element is used to prepare printing plates. In one construction, a donor element, which is prepared by coating a photoinitiator (and optionally a sensitizer) in a binder on a backing material, is used with an image receiving element, which is prepared by coating a photopolymer (and optionally a sensitizer) on a substrate having a microporous hydrophilic crosslinked silicated surface. In an alternative construction, a donor element, which is prepared by coating a sensitizer in a binder on a backing material, is used with an image receiving element, which is prepared by coating a photopolymer and photoinitiator on a substrate having a microporous hydrophilic crosslinked silicated surface. In yet another construction, a donor element, prepared by coating a thermal transfer layer containing a photopolymer, a photoinitiator and/or a sensitizer on a backing material, is used with an image receiving element having a microporous hydrophilic crosslinked silicated surface.

Aqueous-based mixtures comprising colloidal vanadium oxide and a dispersed sulfonated polymer impart antistatic properties to coatings on a substrate and to self-supporting articles. The preferred colloidal vanadium oxide is alkoxide derived and provides mixed valence vanadium oxide wherein the vanadium ions are typically +4 and +5. Preferred sulfopolymers include sulfopolyesters, sulfopolyurethanes, sulfopolyurethanes/ureas, sulfopolyester polyols, and sulfopolyols. A reduction of static buildup on surfaces can be accomplished by providing a coating which is the dried and reacted product of an aqueous composition of chitosan salt and inorganic metal oxide sol. A stable, static reducing coating on polymeric substrates is particularly useful in photographic media.

A method for producing a magnetic recording medium while minimizing electrostatic charge buildup on the medium during production. The method comprises applying a liquid material over a surface of a moving web to form a continuous wet coating thereon and smoothing the wet coating with a flexible blade having two major surfaces. The flexible smoothing blade comprises a conductive layer and is positioned so that a portion of one major surface is in contact with the wet coating so that electrostatic charge on the coated web is continuously dissipated.

An abrasive article (i.e., a coated abrasive article or a three-dimensional, low density abrasive article) having a sufficient amount of vanadium oxide incorporated therein to provide having a reduced tendency to buildup static electricity during the abrading of a workpiece. Preferably, the abrasive article further comprises a compatible binder (preferably, a sulfonated polymer) to aid in securing the vanadium oxide to the abrasive article. In another aspect, a method of making the same is taught.

The use of a gelled network of inorganic oxide particles on the polymeric surface of a substrate provides a subbing layer having the potential for antistatic properties, antihalation properties, and good coatability.
