Processes, methods and apparatus relating to olefin oligomerization include the use of Raman spectrometry to monitor the concentration of reactants, products or other chemical components. One or more oligomerization conditions are adjusted in response to those monitored concentrations. The present processes, methods and apparatus are capable of monitoring olefin oligomerization with the use of low resolution Raman spectrometry equipment, even where there is some degree of overlap between Raman spectral peaks. Apparatus for olefin oligomerization reactions have at least one Raman probe located in the oligomerization equipment, the Raman probe providing an output signal, and Raman spectrometry equipment located outside the oligomerization equipment and operatively connected to at least one Raman probe.

Monitoring and control of processes for making 1-hexene

The present technique provides for the use of spectroscopic probes, such as Raman probes, within the conduits or other equipment of a polyolefin production system and upstream systems. The Raman probe or other spectroscopic probes may be used to obtain spectroscopic measurements of the contents of the conduits or other equipment. The spectroscopic measurements may be processed and analyzed to determine one or more properties of interest of the contents.

Method and apparatus for monitoring polyolefin production

The present technique provides for the use of spectroscopic probes, such as Raman probes, within the conduits of a polyolefin production system. The Raman probe or other spectroscopic probes may be used to obtain spectroscopic measurements of the contents of the conduits. The spectroscopic measurements may be processed and analyzed to determine the composition of the conduit contents. In addition, the spectroscopic measurements may be used in conjunction with correlations or other statistical models to determine one or more properties of interest of a constituent of the conduit contents. One or more processes upstream and/or downstream of the conduit may be adjusted in response to the determined composition or composition properties.

A polyolfin composition having high resistance to degradation is formed of at least one polyolefin component, bis(2,4dicumylphenyl)pentaerythritol diphosphite, triisopropanolamine, a hydrotalcite component, and at least one phenol component.

Phosphite additives in polyolefins

The whiteness and stability of a polyolefin have been found to be improved upon addition of a first phosphite, an arylalkyl diphosphite, and a second phosphite selected from a second arylalkyl disphosphite or a triarylphosphite. In addition, the addition of a triarylphosphite with an arylalkyl disphoshite has been found to improve the hygroscopic nature and the hydrolytic stability of the arylalkyl disphosphite.

Processes, methods and apparatus relating to olefin polymerization include the use of Raman spectrometry to monitor the concentration of reactants, products or other chemical components. One or more polymerizaton conditions are adjusted in response to those monitored concentrations. The present processes, methods and apparatus are applicable with slurry olefin polymerization process, even though such slurry processes contain solid particles were are known to interfere with Raman spectrometry. Furthermore, the present processes, methods and apparatus are applicable where there is some degree of overlap between Raman spectral peaks. Methods of monitoring and controlling olefin polymerization processes, reactants and other components use Raman spectrometry. Apparatus for olefin polymerization reactions have polymerization equipment, at least one Raman probe located in the polymerization equipment, and Raman spectrometry equipment located outside the polymerization equipment and operatively connected to at least one Raman probe.

Monitoring and control of slurry processes for polymerizing olefins

A polyolefin composition having high resistance to degradation, said composition formed by combining components comprising at least one polyolefin component produced from a transition metal halide catalyst, bis(2,4-dicumylphenyl)pentaerythritol diphosphite, triisopropanolamine, a hydrotalcite component, and at least one phenol component.

In addition, the addition of a triarylphosphite with an arylalkyl diphosphite has as been found to improve the hygroscopic nature and the hydrolytic stability of the arylalkyl diphosphite.

Poly(mono-1-olefin) compositions

Pillared clay based high activity olefin polymerization catalysts, methods of producing the catalysts and methods of using the catalysts in the polymerization of olefins are provided. The methods of producing the catalysts each basically comprise contacting a pillared clay with the soluble complex produced by heating a mixture of a metal dihalide with a transition metal compound to produce a solid, and then reacting the solid with an organoaluminum halide. The process produces catalyst components shaped like dipyramidal or generally 'football'-shaped crystals.

Catalysts for polymerizing olefins and methods

A process is provided comprising contacting under deodorizing conditions, at least one deodorizing composition with at least one poly(mono-1-olefin), wherein said deodorizing conditions comprise, a standard pressure from about 1 to about 5, and a standard temperature from about 0.5 to about 2.5.
