An optical fiber ribbon assembly ( ) of the present invention includes a plurality of aligned optical fibers ( ) and a laminated structure surrounding the optical fibers. The laminated structure includes a clear polyvinyl chloride (PVC) extrusion layer ( ) bonding the fibers together and a pair of Kapton layers ( ) laminated over the PVC extrusion layer. Additional KEVLAR members ( ) may be aligned with the fibers and embedded in the PVC extrusion layer and the Kapton layers, thereby providing the fibers with additional protection from tensile loads.

Optical fiber cable

An optical fiber ribbon assembly includes a plurality of aligned optical fibers, a strain relief structure aligned with the fibers, and a protective layer integrally bonding the fibers and the strain relief structure together. The strain relief structure has at least a pair of strength members disposed on opposite sides of the aligned fibers and extending lengthwise along the ribbon assembly.

A twisted-pair cable includes a plurality of twisted pairs of conductors closely side by side arranged one another. The pair of conductors are twisted with some degrees axially offset relative to the adjacent twisted pair of conductors, whereby for each victim conductor, the induced signals can be eliminated within each twisted cycle, so that the crosstalk at the far end of the cable can be reduced.

A ground plane cable has a layer of first conductors. A layer of second conductors is arranged in parallel to the first conductors. A grounding plate is arranged between the first and second conductors. Each layer of first and second layer of conductors has at least a conductor electrically contacting with the grounding plate.

A flat, fine pitch cable assembly includes an improved cable profile to assist in the alignment with an insulation displacement connector. The improved profile has enlarged ridges which encompass multiple conductors thereby providing a surface which is more pronounced and therefore more suitable for alignment with an insulation displacement connector and the contacts supported thereby.

A strippable, shielded electrical cable comprises a plurality of elongate, parallel-spaced electrical conductors encased in a casing of electrical insulation. At least one of the conductors, preferably located at a position other than at the marginal ends of the cable has an exposed portion free of casing material. An electrically conductive wire mesh shield overlies the casing and is in electrical contact with the exposed conductor portions. A top layer of electrical insulation overlies the wire mesh shield. A release sheet of electrical insulation is disposed between the conductive shield and the cover layer. A first adhesive is on the lower surface of the sheet facing the shield, the first adhesive being removably adhered to the metallic wire mesh shield. The first adhesive and a portion of the casing material are removably adhered to each other through the interstitial openings of the wire mesh. A second adhesive is disposed on the opposing surface of the release sheet facing the layer, the second adhesive being removably adhered to the cover layer.
