A dishwasher may include a washing chamber and a wash arm arrangement having a wash arm rotatably arranged in the washing chamber, and a satellite spray device arranged on the wash arm. The dishwasher may include at least one sensor configured to sense a rotational position of the wash arm and a control unit configured to monitor consecutive sensed rotational positions of the wash arm. The control unit may be configured to calculate a rotational speed of the wash arm based on an elapsed time and a rotational distance between two sensed rotational positions, and may be configured to estimate a current rotational position of the wash arm based on an elapsed time since a previously sensed rotational position and the calculated rotational speed. The control unit may adapt the pumping intensity of a pump of the dishwasher based on the estimated current rotational position of the wash arm.

Provided are a method performed by an appliance for washing and rinsing goods, where some of the goods loaded into the appliance are sensitive to process water temperature changes, and an appliance performing the method. The method may include receiving via a user interface, an instruction that an appliance, during execution of a general-type washing program, should take into account that goods sensitive to temperature changes are loaded into the appliance, measuring a temperature value in a washing compartment of the appliance upon executing a draining process, and supplying fresh water to the washing compartment of the appliance. The method may include measuring, when the fresh water has been supplied, whether the process water being accommodated in a sump of the appliance is at a target temperature value or not and if not adjusting the temperature of the process water in the sump to attain the target temperature value.

Method and an appliance for washing and rinsing goods sensitive to temperature changes

A method for handling a clogging condition in a dishwasher may include detecting the clogging condition; upon detecting the clogging condition, interrupting a wash cycle of the dishwasher and executing a remedial operation to remove the clogging condition. The remedial operation may include executing a drain operation for a predetermined drain time during which a drain pump may be continuously or intermittently operated to drain water from a sump of the dishwasher; following the drain operation, executing a fill operation for a predetermined fill time during which a fill valve may be continuously or intermittently activated to add water to the dishwasher; and following the fill operation, executing a circulation operation during which a circulation pump may be continuously or intermittently operated to remove the clogging condition. Provided herein are an appliance and method for washing and rinsing goods. The appliance may include a circulation pump, a sensing arrangement arranged to measure an indication of circulation pump pressure or process water flow rate through the circulation pump, and a controller arranged to control operating speed of the circulation pump. The controller may be further arranged to detect that the indicated circulation pump pressure or process water flow rate through the circulation pump is insufficient, and gradually reduce operating speed of the circulation pump until the circulation pump pressure or the process water flow rate through the circulation pump is at a sufficient operational level.

A dishware supporting arrangement is provided that may include a mesh structure and a tilting mechanism. The mesh structure may include a structure main extension plane and may include a first plurality of ribs connected to a second plurality of ribs. The first plurality of ribs may extend along a first plane at a first angle and the second plurality of ribs may extend along a second plane at a second angle. The tilting mechanism may allow the mesh structure to be titled around at least one axis between a first position and a second position and may hold the mesh structure in the first position and in the second position. Each of the first plurality of ribs and each of the second plurality of ribs may be inclined in relation to the rack main extension plane at the first position and at the second position.

An appliance for washing and rinsing goods may be provided including a circulation pump, a sensing arrangement arranged to measure a property indicating torque of the circulation pump, and a controller. The controller may be arranged to average a first set of values of the measured property, thereby creating a first average, average at least a further set of values of the measured property, thereby creating at least one further average, compare the first average with the at least one further average, and to detect change in process water flow of the circulation pump based on a difference between the first average and the at least one further average.

A method and corresponding appliance for carrying out the method may include detecting insufficient circulation pump pressure or process water flow rate through a circulation pump of the appliance, supplying water to a compartment of the appliance and logging a time period during which the water is supplied to the compartment and increasing the speed of the circulation pump to a target pump speed where the circulation pump pressure or the process water flow rate through the circulation pump has reached a sufficient operational level. The method may include logging at least two circulation pump speeds and a time period during which the water is supplied to the compartment, and estimating the water fill rate based on predetermined difference in compartment process water volume for the logged at least two speeds and the water supply time period.

The method may include detecting process water added to a sump of the appliance during interruption of operation of the appliance, upon recommence of appliance operation. The method may include increasing operating speed of a circulation pump of the appliance to a target speed, measuring an indication of circulation pump pressure or process water flow rate through the circulation pump, and determining that process water has been added to the sump of the appliance during the interruption in case the measured pressure or flow rate is maintained at a sufficient level after the speed of the circulation pump has reached the target speed.

Provided herein is a method of determining whether process water is present in a circulation pump of an appliance for washing and rinsing goods, and an appliance performing the method. The method of determining whether process water is present in a circulation pump of an appliance for washing and rinsing goods may include measuring a minimum value of a property representing load of the circulation pump at a predetermined first speed, measuring a maximum value of a property representing load of the circulation pump at a predetermined second speed, the second speed being higher than the first speed, determining a relation between said minimum value and said maximum value, and determining, from said relation, whether process water is present in the circulation pump.

Method of determining whether process water is present in a circulation pump of an appliance for washing and rinsing goods, and appliance and computer program therewith

A domestic appliance and a method at the domestic appliance for detecting presence of process water in a pump of the domestic appliance are provided. The method of detecting process water in a pump of a domestic appliance may include operating the pump to rotate in a first direction, recording a first response of the pump rotating in the first direction based on a measured pump operation parameter, operating the pump to rotate in a second direction, and recording a second response of the pump rotating in the second direction based on the measured pump operation parameter. The method may further include comparing the first response and the second response, and determining the presence of water in the pump based on the comparison of the first and second response.
