A system and method for filtering Program Service Name ('PSN') data includes a processor, an antenna in communication with the processor, a display device in communication with the processor, and a memory unit in communication with the processor. The memory unit contains instruction executable by the processor to configure the processor to receive a signal from a wireless source via the antenna, the signal having PSN data, determine if the PSN data is a static PSN or a slowly updated PSN, and display the PSN data on the display device if the PSN data is a static PSN or a slowly updated PSN.

A power management fault strategy detects fault conditions and restores proper operation without user intervention. A low power microprocessor off-board of the main motherboard switches a plurality of regulated voltages to the main motherboard and other devices. The main application microprocessor on the main motherboard sends periodic status messages to the low power microprocessor. Various strategies are provided for limiting attempts to correct a fault, monitor the state of the application microprocessor, and transition between states.

Power management fault strategy for automotive multimedia system

A multimedia/personal computer based system for operating information, communication, and entertainment devices in a mobile vehicle uses a power management system which provides power to volatile ram during engine startup. During engine startup, battery voltage decreases to a point that most electronic devices can not function and may be harmed. A low power microprocessor off-board of a main processor board, which is a complex instruction set (CISC) processor system, switches a primary voltage regulator, which provides a plurality of regulated voltages to the main processor board, off to reduce power requirements. The main processor board stores a state of predetermined peripheral devices in volatile ram and then turns the devices off. The main processor then goes into a suspend mode awaiting a wake up signal from the low power microprocessor. A secondary voltage regulator turns on to supply power to the volatile ram when the primary voltage regulator is turned off.

A loosely coupled power management strategy utilizes a low power microprocessor off board of the main motherboard for switching a plurality of regulated voltages to the main motherboard and other devices. The use of a separate board for input/output processing and power management provides for more robust power management and facilitates adaptation of the system for inclusion in different vehicles using different input/output devices and networks.

If a time limit between successive status messages is exceeded, then the low power microprocessor takes corrective action such as sending messages to the main application microprocessor, sending a wakeup sequence (resume event) to the main application processor, sending a reset signal to the main application microprocessor, or removing or cycling the regulated voltages being provided to the main motherboard.

A lighting device is provided which comprises an optically non-opaque wall consisting essentially of a polymeric material and defining a portion of an envelope; a light source sealed within the envelope at a pressure of less than one atmosphere absolute; and an electrical driving device in electrical communication with the light source for causing the light source to generate light. According to another aspect of the invention, a lighting device is provided which comprises an optically non-opaque wall consisting essentially of a polymeric material and defining a portion of an envelope; a gas disposed and sealed within the envelope at a pressure of less than one atmosphere absolute, the wall being substantially impermeable by the gas; and an electrical driving device in at least one of electrical and electromagnetic communication with the gas for activating the gas to generate light. Related methods also are disclosed. In the various devices and methods, the polymeric wall material comprises a polycarbonate material, and may consist of or consist essentially of a polycarbonate material. Electrode housings and connectors also are disclosed.
