In embodiments of an autonomous vehicle platform and safety architecture, safety managers of a safety-critical system monitor outputs of linked components of the safety-critical system. The linked components comprise at least three components, each of which is configured to produce output indicative of a same event independent from the other linked components by using different input information than the other linked components. The safety managers also compare the outputs of the linked components to determine whether each output indicates the occurrence of a same event. When the output of one linked component does not indicate the occurrence of an event that is indicated by the outputs of the other linked components, the safety managers identify the one linked component as having failed. Based on this, the outputs of the other linked components are used to carry out operations of the safety-critical system without using the output of the failed component.

Autonomous vehicle platform and safety architecture

In embodiments of an autonomous vehicle interface system, system nodes are each implemented as a distributed node for independent data processing of low-level sensor data and/or high-level system data. The high-level system data is abstracted from the low-level sensor data, providing invariance to system configuration in higher-level processing algorithms. The autonomous vehicle interface system includes at least one real-time bus for data communications of the low-level sensor data and the high-level system data between the system nodes. The system also includes an application programming interface (API) configured for access by the system nodes to the low-level sensor data and the high-level system data that is published on the real-time bus and accessible via the API.

A one-piece toilet seat hinge composed of an elastomeric material throughout, and having the characteristics of rubber, and including a flat flange member and a coplanar support shank, the flange member being designed to be connected to the toilet seat and the support shank being generally cylindrical in shape and externally threaded to facilitate mounting thereof within a cavity normally found on the toilet stool for connection of the seat thereto. The flange member has lower peripheral portions having sufficient memory to cause the toilet seat to swing from a horizontal orientation, upon release, to a vertically extending orientation, thereby obviating the likelihood of the seat being soiled by a subsequent male urinator.

A Sleeve Valve for regulating the water level in ponds, lagoons and other wetlands which includes an outer tubular section of plastic pipe with a plurality of vertically spaced openings and an inner tubular section of plastic pipe that is disposed telescopically within, and rotatable relative to, the outer tubular pipe. This inner tubular pipe includes a plurality of vertically spaced openings that are positionally staggered about a circumference and arranged for selective alignment with one of the openings in the outer pipe. Each of the openings in the outer pipe are sealed against the outer wall of the inner pipe until rotation of the inner pipe causes alignment of a selected opening in the outer pipe with a corresponding opening in the inner pipe, thereby allowing water to pass only through such corresponding aligned openings. The water level is regulated by selecting and aligning corresponding openings in the outer and inner pipes at the water level desired. Water passing through the aligned openings of the inner and outer pipes pass by gravitational flow to a remote location through a discharge conduit that is connected to the lower end of the outer pipe.
